An extremely comfortable and accommodating place. Rooms are roomy and comfortable and the staff is outstanding. The flag retirement at dusk is a very moving ceremony and well done. Veterans are recognized for their service and presented with a small American flag.

Room Tip: Second floor or higher. Occasional wild life on property. Good view on Denali when not cloudy.

A beautiful, well-appointed mountain lodge in "quirky" little Talkeetna. The town is very small and very "touristy" with little shops, very casual restaurants...good access to the back country of central Alaska. The lodge is lovely and furnished well. NO AC, but lots of fans if needed......it doesn't get hot there very often....June temps are typically in the 60's. Popular with cruise ship groups as a starting point. Staff is very accommodating, restaurant is adequate.
Beautiful view of the Alaska range and Mt Denali IF weather is clear.......can be quite rainy up there. Good beds, nice large modern rooms. Unexpected upscale style in the middle of nowhere!

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view!

We decided to splurge and spend over $200 for a room at the lodge-- a room with parking lot view. We were so excited when we arrived. The lobby and view of the mountains is breathtaking. Our excitement turned to dismay when we entered our third floor room. The door opened and the wave of heat hit us. It is over 84 degrees outside and the only air in the room is from a table fan! For this price, where is the a/c or ceiling fan?? The only suggestion the staff (who are very friendly) has is for guests to sleep with there room door open all night for cross breeze!! Furthermore, the decor and bathroom are very dated and feel like a cheap motel not an expensive lodge. Only positives are lobby, view and shuttle service to town.

Thanks for your candid feedback. I am sorry that you did not purchase one of our upgraded rooms with a view. Hotel room pricing in the state of Alaska are much higher then comparable rooms types in the lower 48 states. I am glad to hear that the staff was friendly and you enjoyed the complimentary shuttle.

Feel free to email me directly with any concerns or comments.

We stayed one night in Talkeetna and stayed in the main lodge. Check in was easy and all the employees were very friendly and helpful. I spoke to the concierge and he suggested we do a hike around X,Y,Z lakes. Glad we did. It was a fun hike. Saw moose. The hotel is clean and the lobby is inviting with a large fireplace in the center. Off the back of the main lodge is a nice patio over looking the range. They have complimentary games like scrabble that we played in front of the fire. Nice a homey feeling. Nice place to stay if you are traveling to Talkeetna.

This is a large sprawling lodge. Half of the rooms in the large main building have a room facing the Alaska range, which is often cloud covered. There are viewing patios outside of the building. My wife and I had a room with two queen beds. It was reasonably spacious. It was cloudy when we arrived and the next morning, but the weather cleared before we left. The Alaska range stretched out before us and in the center was Denali (a.k.a. Mt. McKinley), its vast size and height strikingly evident. It was a sight to remember! The lodge is located on a hill and the view is out over the town towards the mountains.

Room Tip: A view room us worth the extra price. There are also rooms in some buildings across the parking lot...

Our room was comfortable and we were lucky enough to have lovely weather and views of the mountains during our two night stay. We ate in both restaurant and bistro and we found the standard of the food very good. What let the hotel down was the lack of organisation - we were told that there would be a 45 minute wait for dinner, despite a half empty bistro. We complained - as did many others - and were subsequently seated within 15 minutes but it spoilt the experience. The hotel is in a great position but needs to up its game in order to provide that really memorable experience and get 5 stars.

Room Tip: You must have a mountain view room or you could be in a motel anywhere.

We had a lovely spacious room. The staff was very organized and handled our luggage. The restaurant was a little pricey. We only stayed one night and ate at a pizza restaurant downtown. The pizza was excellent. As compared with the rest of Alaska we didn't find much to do in this little town. We thought it was a little more touristy than we wanted out of our trip. It was cloudy so there was no view of Mt. McKinley.

Room Tip: Choose either a room with a forest view or mountain view.
