“DO NOT MISS THIS EXPERIENCE!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2013

Coffee a la Mar is the best coffee shop in Talkeetna. It is housed in a historic cabin located just off the main street in Talkeetna, And Marlene ("Mar"), the proprietor, will serve you some of the best coffee drinks you've ever had. But the best part about visiting Coffee a la Mar is engaging in conversation with Mar. She is a fascinating character with lots of stories to tell. Just ask a few questions to prime the pump, and she will regale you with tales about her life. My companions and I enjoyed our visit (and our coffee) so much, we stayed for almost an hour the first time, and went back for more the next day.

“Wonderful cappuccino!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2013

It was the middle of the afternoon and I really needed coffee. The woman in the Historical Society recommended this place. It is a little hidden behind the Thai place. My cappuccino was made exactly the way I wanted it - and with a smile, too. I had a lot of great coffee in Alaska, and this was one of the best!

“Great spot for coffee. latte...she doesn't "speak Starbucks"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2013

Great drinks made for you by Marlene, the owner, in a restored cabin out of the early 1900's. Just off the main street, and well worth the walk! Ask her about the history of the cabin!

“Great Coffee”

A great place for a regular cup of joe. She doesn't like Starbuck and neither do I. Right off Main Street behind the Thai takeout.

“Don't miss this Gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2013

Right behind the Thai payout, you'll find this wonderful little cafe.

The owner might explain you if you are nice :) why the name is Cafe a la Mar and not Cafe de la Mar in the middle of Alaska ...
I won't reveal her secret... :)

Anyway, I had a wonderful espresso there, so good (rare in Alaska) that I immediately ordered a second shot...

The Lady owner made this place exactly at her image: warm, relax, generous, positive, genuine, welcoming, sharing....

So if you want to have a good time zipping a delicious coffee either inside in her cozy cabin or outside contemplating the garden flowers, you know where to go... Easy to find...

Enjoy! The next time we'll be there, we certainly won't miss the chance to go again.
