Clean cabins with everything you need in the little town of Talkeetna. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. Right in town, and in easy walking distance to the restaurants, shops, and other attractions. Owners were friendly and helpful.

This place was super clean, very roomy, great flat screen TV, great location, well stocked kitchen and loads of towels and linens. Our hosts went above and beyond, even helped my 79 year old Dad find a walking stick. When making our plans, they were very helpful with local and regional info. Thanks so much Jane!

We traveled with three couples and were in Talkeetna only one night, Chinook Winds was great especially at half the price of the lodge, and we had three separate cabins. Jane even picked us up at the lodge; she was very friendly and came over to make sure I was able to use the satellite TV. We only stayed the one night but it was perfect for us, very clean and convenient.

I got around to booking a place in Talkeetna late, and all of the places that were recommended to me were fully booked. I was happy that Chinook Wind had a vacancy. If I go to Talkeetna again, I will certainly try to book early to get a better selection.

First, the good. The location is very convenient- town is a short walk away. Check in was easy, and you can park right at your cabin which was nice for unpacking. And there's a great restaurant across the street- Michelle's. The cabin itself was fine- not a lot of character, but it was large enough, very clean, the kitchenette was sufficient and the porch was great. It was also nice to have a TV (though we couldn't figure it out!).

Now, the not-so-good. It was very noisy. The train depot was very closeby, and there were trains going through at all hours of the night. The family in the cabin next door was extremely rowdy one night- kept us up til way past midnight. The staff eventually gave them a warning which kept things a little more quiet. Also, in the cabin, there should have been a door at the top of the stairs (it was two story with a queen bed downstairs and 4 twins upstairs). There was literally no privacy as a result. A small detail, but it would have been nice to have better blinds- the white blinds did not keep the light out which made sleeping a little difficult.

All in all, it wasn't our favorite place in Alaska, but it really did suit our needs just fine.

We stayed at the Chinook Wind Cabins for the "Moose Dropping Festival" and enjoyed the clean cabin and comfortable beds. There were dishes, hot plate and microwave along with a TV for us to use. Having coffee, juice and sweet rolls there in the cabin in the morning was a treat. Not having to walk too far to get to all the activities was great. We enjoyed our stay in Talkeetna and would plan to stay at the cabins again if we are able to get to the "festival" again.

Our trip to Talkeetna was one of the best highlights of our 2 week honeymoon in Alaska. We stayed in the Chinook Winds cabins (The Denali cabin to be specific) for 3 nights and 4 days and had a wonderful experience there. The cabin was clean, roomy, and cozy. Before we arrived, the owner, Jackie, advised us to pick up our groceries in Anchorage or Wasilla, this way we could be self sufficient, and not always be eating out. . . plus, we had a trip planned in Denali, and we would need to pack up lunch and snacks for the entire day. . .
True that the breakfast part of the B& B isn't really 'breakfast' - but she does provide muffins and any juice you can imagine. - good as snacks during the day. . .
(Besides, you really shouldn't miss the Roadhouse breakfast if you can help it)

The cabins themselves are in very good condition. They are well-maintained and clean. I only got to see the Denali Cabin, and true, the decor is simple. .. but it suits the place. The colors are warm and earthy, the floors are wood, and the lighting can be adjusted to your perfect level. Also, true, that there is picture of a lighthouse on the wall and some lighthouse pillows. . .but, I wouldn't think they are limited to New England (I'm from NY, very familiar with New England). . . I actually think there might be some lighthouse IN Alaska!! Really!
The amenities in the cabin were perfect - there were dishes, glasses, coffee, a stove, clean refrigerator, extra pillows, blankets, comfy towels. . . and if you needed ANYthing at all. . . including the password in order for your laptop you could reach the owner, and she was more than happy to help.
Note: My mac worked perfectly. . .no password glitches there. . .

The cabins are in perfect walking distance to many things, yet you do not feel trapped in the middle of town. If you like to go out and have some drinks and listen to some music, you can still safely walk home, and sleep in peace. The town is so lovely, and has a lot of charm. From the cabin, you can easily walk to flightseeing locations, great hiking, the riverfront, shuttle buses to other places, gift shops, restaurants, and live music . . . There are many wonderful people in this town, and if you get a chance, you should talk to them and find out some of the amazing stories. . . Jackie, the owner, has a great story of her own, too, and we felt very lucky to get to talk to her.

Her policy is that they will "ignore you" . . .but she doesn't mean that in a negative way. . . it just means that you're on your own, she won't be breathing down your neck, watching you, asking you questions or telling you what to do. . . . she does, however, give great advice, and if you ask, she will tell you WHATEVER you want to know. . . We found every single one of her recommendations to be great, and will certainly stay again at the Chinook cabins.

We stayed in the 'Denali' cabin for two nights during a whirlwind trip to Alaska. The cabin itself was very large and had a nice kitchen/living room area. It is a very average looking cabin, with a TV in the living room. Upon checking in we were given a choice of packaged donuts/pasteries/etc. It is within walking distance to 'downtown' Talkeetna.

They advertised wireless internet (which was the main draw for us staying at their location), but upon arriving we could not get into their secured network with our Mac laptop (my uneducated guess is because they had a space in their password and Apple computers may be picky about that). Luckily, we did find a pizza place in Talkeetna that had free wi-fi.

Overall, our experience was just okay. We would pick somewhere a bit nicer if we ever came back to Alaska.
