We arrived after a very long flight from the midwest United States to Bora Bora. My wife, Amy, had made all the major arrangements with Richard Holland (Owner) via VRBO and it all went smoothly. The caretaker, Nir, a French-Israeli gentlemen met us at the ferry dock (ferry from Bora Bora Airport) and had our rental car waiting, a local cellphone and charger (unexpected but very welcome) and the keys and wished us well. Home is beautiful and very well maintained. Updated kitchen with smooth top touch-style range, stainless appliances and gas grille. The star factor of staying at a home owned by the late Marlon Brando and his then wife, Tarita Teriipia (co-star from Mutiny on the Bounty) home was pretty cool. Posters of Mutiny on the Bounty and Tarita graced the home as well as a DVD of Mutiny on the Bounty. Several DVDs and an LCD TV was available (European standard). First day we were taking pictures/video and even saw a rare spotted stingray gliding in from the bay. Everything you need without the impersonality of a hotel or overpriced overwater bungalow. Why stay there when you can stay at an overwater villa and truly experience Polynesia!!!
We saw things all over Bora Bora..but it was so refreshing starting our day with a cafe au lait and coming back to a home and just relaxing at our villa while watching the sunset with cocktails and grilling a steak. You can't beat being able to cook for yourself (given the very high food prices on Bora Bora). Also, this overwater bungalow is much larger than anything you'd get at a resort.
Be sure to ask Nir about his rental car. Great rate and lets you get from the bungalow to see all the sites without having to rely on transfers. Everything is a 20 minute drive or less.
Truly one of the best places to stay on Bora Bora. Highly Recommended!!!
