“Good value resort”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Went with the family and stayed in a deluxe OWB. The bungalow was huge and easily accomodated 2 children in their own beds in the living area with a partition between this and the main bedroom. The door to the outdoor deck was quite tough to open which provided some safety if you are concerned about kids going to deck without your supervision.
The resort was beautiful and staff helpful. Food was quite good and the cost reasonable. Kids meals are free if dining with adults except for the buffet, if ordering from the kids menu.
Spa location was beautiful but treatments a bit substandard.

A vacation to Bora Bora was on my bucket list and the Hilton Bora Bora did not disappoint! We had an overwater bungalow and it was amazing. It was so large and did not feel at all like a hotel. By the end of our stay, we felt like it was home!

The day views were great, but the sunsets were outstanding! I have so many pictures and they are all great. While the hotel is not new, it is well groomed looks great. Take a walk to the spa and enjoy the view. It feels like heaven!

We really enjoyed the food at the sand bar and grill and ate there a couple of times. It's expensive, but you know that going in, so you should be prepared.

We met some very interesting people at the Manager's Reception (thanks, Jean) and felt like we were leaving friends by the time we left the island.

Loved the musical greeting by staff when we arrived for the first time. It is really a nice touch and feels so exotic. My recommendation.....go and enjoy!

This review is a little late (we stayed 8/26-9/1/2012), but wanted to share our thoughts as we are now reading reviews for our return trip to French Polynesia. We spent our entire honeymoon at the Hilton Bora Bora, and had an incredible time. We were in an OWB on the complete opposite end of the hotel from the spa -- it was a bit of a walk for breakfast, spa, gym, etc., but we were on island time and didn't mind at all. Plus, we had much more privacy on that side (nobody swimming in front of our bungalow but us). The room was kept clean, and the snorkeling right from our room was amazing. We both had massages at the spa -- wow, the view from up there is insane, and the massages were fantastic. Everyone was very nice and friendly. My only "negative": breakfast was basic and got to be a little boring after the 3rd day. Still curious what makes the Four Seasons and St. Regis so much more expensive, but we'd happily return to the Hilton.

Room Tip: OWBs in the row of 320's and 330's are private, great snorkeling (water a little deeper) and...

After putting quite a bit of research in deciding on our honeymoon destination I settled on the Hilton Bora Bora because it looked beautiful and seemed like good value for your money.
My wife and I were blown away by our stay.

We stayed in an overwater bungalow and we are so glad we spent the extra $. Having essentially a giant saltwater aquarium in your backyard is priceless. we spent hours feeding the fish right off of our own dock and snorkeling. Amazing variety of fish and the water clarity was perfect everyday. Having a cold drink on the back patio, and looking out at the wide variety of blues in the water was extremely relaxing. the stars at night were incredible. you could see the milky way very clearly.

The room is a little bit dated which is my only complaint about our stay. the decor is nice but they need to swap the CD player for an IPod dock and replace the beds and pillows. I woke up with a sore back a lot in the morning and the pillows were too thin. also, the gym could use some new equipment. I believe 2 out of 3 cardio machines were not working properly.

none of this bothered me though because the natural beauty of your location is so overwhelming you barely pay it any mind.

Highly recommend paying for a half-board meal plan before you leave. It would've been very expensive to eat 3 meals/day at the hotel without it. the breakfast buffet it terrific. you can also order fresh meals off the menu and they have an omelet station.
Dinner @ the french restaurant was always great. we got the suckling pig twice! the meal I had at the polynesian restaurant wasn't very good (fish with vanilla sauce and rice.) it was bland.
the casual restaurant near the pool had great food and wifi which was nice. all of the servers were always courteous and nice. we always got our food promptly. also, whoever was working at the activity desk worked harder then probably anyone else at the resort. it seemed like he was always moving. he would hand out fresh snacks to all guests sitting by the pool which was a nice touch.
the grounds of the hotel are stunning. surrounded by constant beauty wherever you go.

I was very impressed that Jean the manager was so personable. we saw him everyday walking around and talking to guests, making sure that they had a great time. we were invited to the managers coctail hour which was a nice time. we met some other guests at the hotel and had some nice conversations. Jeans 2 friendly cats roam the grounds. missing our cats at home wasnt so bad when we had these two friendly fur balls to pet!
I worked in a hotel for 3 years and only saw the general manager a few times. the fact that Jean is always out and about was very impressive. It was always a pleasure to talk with him.

***TIP from Jean:
if you're in need of a workout or a short hike, take the path near the gym to the top of the island. there's some wicker furniture up there and quite a few breathtaking views. One day we ran up and down the hill a couple of times then ran back to our room to jump in the ocean. I felt like a million dollars after. An experience I'm not likely to forget anytime soon.

When I first booked the Hilton Bora Bora I thought it would be a once in a lifetime trip. After coming back that is definitely not right. I want to come back ASAP.
On the departing boat, the staff perform a little goodbye song for the guests leaving. I legit wanted to ball my eyes out. I have never been sad like that leaving a hotel. I felt like i was leaving home.
Thanks again to all the staff.

Room Tip: Look at the map of the hotel and try to pick a OWB thats away from the lobby. some of the OWB's...

The Over water Villa is an unforgettable experience (great housekeeping, so clean, and had anything and everything we needed)! The Villa exceeded our expectations! We switched to a Garden Guest Room for a few nights at the end and were disappointed with the overall up-keep of the room. The Garden View room seemed a little forgotten (towels were old and small, TV didn't work, bed was poorly made and had sand in it the first night, AC remote didn't work so we couldn't change the temperature, and there was not alarm clock in the room). We definitely paid less for this room than for the Over Water Villa, but we still expected Hilton Quality in the Garden View Guest Room (this is why the guest rooms are rated average- considering both rooms we stayed in). Things to note- -Food and drinks are SUPER expensive. Bring your own water and some snacks. -Restaurant choice is limited if you stay there for a week. The French and Polynesian restaurants are great. Skip the buffets on Tuesday and Friday because they are not worth the money. We really loved our experience at this hotel and had a great time, but be aware that the Suites and Villas are definitely favored.

Dear Chelseamishak,

Thank you for your comments following your recent stay at our Resort.

We were pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay even if your comments on the Lagoon View Suite you occupied show that we did not meet all your expectations.

We do hope that you reported the issues you had in that suite while in the resort and that we were able to fix them immediately. We have however discussed them with our Maintenance and Housekeeping Managers to ensure the proper improvements.

Again, thank you for your feedback. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back so that we can prove ourselves better hosts.

WOW is all I can say what an amazing place. We stayed in an overwater bungalow and it was awesome. So tastefully furnished, so much room and a view to die for. Great facilities and so much to do if you want to do it. I would highly recommend this resort.

Our family, 4 total including two 11 year old twins, stayed at the Hilton Bora Bora. It's an amazing piece of property. The grounds are expansive and very well maintained. We stayed in a garden bungalow (524) which was very nice. They are large and we had lots of room to spread out! The bathroom are huge and it had a nice balcony as well. We didn't spend a lot of time on the balcony because there were a lot of mosquitoes, which is to be expected in such a tropical location. I think the garden rooms have more than the rest of the hotel because there is a large hill with lots of foliage for the mosquitoes to hang out in.
We ate breakfast at the Iritai every morning. The had made to order omelets and lots of fresh fruit and juices and the best croissants! They were small and buttery and I put jam made from local fruit on it! Yummy!
We also ate a few dinners at Tamure Grill. Everything including the Pad Tai (that is how they spelled it) was good. Good service, good tasting food.
The beach was clean and usually chairs were available.
The pool was a weird shape, it was 2 levels. We didn't have much luck getting chairs by the pool, so ended up in the ocean. They should revisit the pool area and add a jacuzzi and additional lounge chairs. There is a ton of wasted space with the koi pond and 2 levels of pool. I would suggest larger one level pool and make Koi pond with grotto new Jacuzzi.
Snorkeling in the water by the OWB was very good, we also took a tour to swim with sharks and rays, which was the highlight of the trip.
Overall, very positive experience.
