I booked a lagoon bungalow. There's a lot of space. A bathroom with a shower and a bathtub. You have your own deck with 4 sunbathing chairs. The staff is useful and really nice. Good food and activites too.
You take the hotel boat from the airport to the hotel.

My wife and I recently stayed 5 nights here in an overwater bungalow and our view of the mountain and water was incredible. The room was top of the line and even included a pillow menu for you to select from. There is just nothing like jumping right off of your deck to go snorkeling everyday at your leisure. We experienced the utmost top level of comfort and service here and I highly recommend a stay to anyone as this island itself is totally the experience of a lifetime!

Just got back from Moorea/Bora Bora. Spent 5 nts. at Le Moana and loved it. We really like the Polynesian feel of it and the it's location is second to none. Stayed in OWB #21 and was awesome. We could watch the sunrise from bed in the morning and then walk across the street for the sunset at Matira Beach. The hotel is within walking distance from a few restaurants and a couple of little market stores. I would definitely stay here if I make it back. Only complaint I had was one of their workers who was painting the underside of the OWB walkway was rinsing his paint bucket out in the lagoon. No matter what type of paint that was, I would like to see that handled up on the mainland. The paint can't be doing the lagoon any favors.

Room Tip: Get a room facing away from the main resort to watch the sunrise.

Dear travelerpapillion, Ia orana!
We trust you had a comfortable trip back home to Nebraska and would like to thank you for making us aware of your experience. We are very surprised and would like to apologize about that matter with the paiting buck as our Resort is particularly concerned with the Environment questions. When our personnel is regularly informed and trained in order to respect and improve our involvement for environment protection (the Resort is an active member of the Green Engage and EarthCheck programs), we also strive to communicate with our providers and different parners. I am personnally reporting your remark to the concerned provider that was in charge for those paintings on the dock and, again, I would like to thank you for reporting us the matter.
We are very pleased to learn that you had a beautiful sojourn with us and could appreciate the Polynesian authenticity of the "Le Moana". Looking forward to the pleasure of welcoming you again!
Yours sincerely,

Really enjoyed the beauty of the beach here. Views of both the water and the mountains. Nice friendly service. Overwater bungalows fun to watch the rays and fish swim by. Really nice stay. I thought the scenery was much better than on the moto.

My husband and I stayed at Le Moana for 9 days in mid-May in a Horizon OWB. We take one "beach" vacation every year and this by far exceeded any of the other places we have traveled. I was a little nervous about the age of the hotel, but we chose it because it was on the main island in a convenient location. When we arrived all of my worries disappeared. We were greeted by the General Manager, Laurence and that made a huge statement to us. Our room was exactly as we expected, the staff was very friendly, the food was good (especially breakfast), and the grounds were beautiful! It is more windy at Le Moana than at the hotels on the motus - but we felt that the conveniences of the main island made this a non-issue. As others have said - there is a mini-grocery store within 5 minutes walk. We also walked to 4 other restaurants - the Lucky House being our favorite! Many of the nights we would walk over to Matira beach (literally across the street) to watch the sunset. The snorkeling at Le Moana was amazing! We brought bread with us to feed the fish and they loved it! If you take a kayak over to the coral garden, make sure you look for the "I Love Bora" in the coral on the floor of the lagoon - made for some great pictures! We missed it the first time but caught it the second time when we stopped there with the Shark and Stingray snorkeling trip. We did take the boat over to the Thalasso two afternoons to enjoy the Stingray feeding, calm water and views of the mountain. It is a newer and larger hotel, but I am glad we chose Le Moana. Our second day we rented a scooter and rode around the entire island. We stopped and had lunch at Bloody Mary's and loved the atmosphere so much that we went back for dinner a few nights later. We did bring XPF cash with us and what we had left over we used to pay down our bill at checkout since we just charged everything to our room during our stay. Overall, I loved Le Moana and we will stay there next time we go to Bora Bora!!!

Pros: Friendly staff, very clean, beautiful beach, convenient location, affordable (compared to many others)

Cons: toilet room in our bungalow had an odor, wireless worked but not well enough to FaceTime

Loved this hotel in Bora Bora. We stayed in an overwater bungalow and spent much of our time snorkeling in the pristine lagoon. The food was very good. It was on the main island so getting around was easy, no boat required. The staff was very helpful and we loved the bungalow.

Room Tip: Try an overwater bungalow. This is one of the only places in the world that has these and they are w...

Loved every single day of our 6 days in the Interconti Le Moana. It was much smaller than we expected which was good as we did not feel like we we were cramped in a small place with too many others. The GM greets everyone personally almost every single day. The overwater bungalows are spectacular and in good condition despite their age. Breakfast buffet was good, much better than in the Le Meredien on Tahiti for instance (also a 4 star hotel). There are quite a couple of dinner options outside the hotel (friends told us "The Bloody Mary's" restaurant is way overrated), we had dinner in the hotel as it was included in our half board booking. Dinner was very promising the first night (good beef fillet), but we also got a few rather disappointing dishes on other evenings (something was wrong with the mahi mahi fish for instance). We were happy to have dinners included here anyway. Staff is nice, friendly and accomodating. Property seems to be well managed.

Snorkeling around the overwat bungalows was not interesting as the are only few corals and fish. We recommend taking one of the hotel's kayaks to go to Coral Garden for much better snorkeling. It will take you roughly 20 minutes one way.

We also went to the grand sister hotel the Interconti Thalasso (5 star). The use of their facilities is free for Le Moana guests. Transfer was charged at 1800 XPF. Its not free anymore. Some tripadvisor comments seem to suggest that there is no big difference between these hotels. Maybe one of the reasons why we booked the cheaper Le Moana. The Thalasso however is in a class of its own. You just get what you pay for. Perfect setup, very neat! Dinner was better too. Overwater bungalows are much bigger (we were perfectly happy with the Le Moana bungalows though). the beach is definitely better in the Le Moana.

We appreciated the Le Moana as a little paradise and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

If you want to have a ride to the Interconti Thalasso, ask when the local guitarist is going to give a little concert again. I think it is twice a week. This fella has got a great voice. The atmosphere on the sofas and beds is fantastic when he is there.

Dear Denneo, Ia orana!
We thank you for taking time to make us aware of your experience and take good note of your comments, helping us improving our services. As you could note, the InterContinental properties of Bora Bora are hardly comparable, cause not the same category and of a different style. We thank you again for your kind review and look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you again in our little paradise.
