“Our Adventure Continues”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

We chose to stay at Sofitel Private Island for our honeymoon in March 2014. It was very quiet during our stay and exactly what we were looking for thanks to our travel agent Noy Siravantha at Tahiti Legends. We stayed 5 days in an Overwater Bungalow and really enjoyed the Amazing views. It was also great to jump right in and swim with the fish living in the corral right next to our bungalow. The room was nice and maintained but showed a little age. It did look like they were in the process of renovating other bungalows but it was done quietly and didn't interfere with our visit at all. They also have several different electrical options so we did not have to use a converter during our trip. The room service was good and the full daily breakfast was definitely a must for a room package. We did the half day eco trip, sunset champagne, romantic dinner on the beach, trip into town and dinner at Bloody Mary's. The half day eco trip is a must do item: Swim with the sharks, pet the stingrays, feed the fish, and tour the main island via boat with a snack. The Captain made the trip memorable with jokes and personality. The only way it could get any better was doing the full day trip with a full lunch on a sand bar, sitting in the water. The Sunset Champagne on the private island was ok as the clouds blocked our view that night. The romantic dinner did not turn out good for us but the resort addressed the issue after our travel agent followed up with the resort. Trip into town was good and dinner at Bloody Mary's was outstanding.

Overall this was an amazing location for our trip of a lifetime. It was quiet, romantic, and just what we needed. If you are looking for more of the nightlife, hustle, and bustles- look elsewhere. 5 days was perfect for one location and the same room. Anything more than 5 days and we would have split it up to visit another island. Bring a camera, sunscreen, and forget the idea that you are going to save money on this vacation. Plus don't forget the waterproof housing for your GoPro camera!

Room Tip: Every room looked like they had great views but the ones at the very end have the best views as you...

This is a great experience sharing, sorry about the clouds during your romantic diner, sunset from the top of the hill of the private island is really a must! i can say you did major magnifique activities with the eco tour from Lagoon service, romantic dinner on the beach and keep all this souvenirs in mind.
All our rooms have been fully refreshed by end of March and we hope you will come back to enjoy again a truly luxury experience at Sofitel Private Island.

Great service. I think when you come to an exotic location, other than the scenery and mini-adventures, service is next on importance. Celeste welcomed us when we first arrived and was great throughout our stay! The rest of the staff too made us feel very welcome and pampered. We stayed at an over the water bungalow with a fantastic view. However, it got very windy, so watch out! My deck chair blew away one time with a strong gust into the water and I jumped into the water off my bungalow to retrieve it. A small mini-adventure that made me feel more gallant than I am. I repeated this when my wife’s hat blew away. The shuttle boat to the main island is reliable and prompt. The buffets on the main island I did did not care for so much, but I am happy we tried them. If I came back to Bora Bora again, I would strongly consider staying on the private island again, and probably would request the same room. It was great (but windy!). Spend the extra money for the private island, it is worth it!

What nice feedback. All the team, wich has the passion of this profession, is pleased that you had a Magnifique stay in our hotel.
A free shuttle is available for you to reach the main island at any time of the day. This allows you to enjoy the services of Sofitel Marara Beach Resort: 2 catering services (Latitude 16 ° and Hurricane), theme evenings (Polynesian, seafood and international buffets) with shows, 1 bar, 1 fitness room , 1 shop, 1 pool, kayaking and other activities.
Hoping to welcome you soon at the Sofitel Private Island.

We stayed at Sofitel Private Island in March 2014. The Overwater Bungalows are old and they have not been renovated in ages, outdated furniture in the room and horrible bathrooms. The Hotel should have a major renovation! We spend a lot of money on the Overwater Bungalow and we were very disappointed …the Hotel is far from the “luxury resort”. I would not recommend this resort.

Dear guest,
Thank you for your comment which is very important for us. Our rooms have just been totally refreshing from February until end of March 2014. Moreover, we propose to our guests authentic Polynesian rooms with dramatic views on the lagoon and Otemanu mountain, which are the best of Bora Bora Scenery.

Smaller, personal, intimate...the Sofitel Motu or Private Island is I believe the best choice in terms of location in Bora Bora. Other options such as the Four Seasons may be more luxurious, but they give an impression to be alligned, very big...luxury with less charm.
Sofitel is devided into two parts : the one on the main island, where most of the dinner shows take place, and the one on the Motu or private Island. this is definitely the best option. However, connections are very easy from one to the next, you can choose dining options on whichever you prefer. Luch and dinner were very good, fresh food, well cooked and nicely presented. Good service too.
You can also easily go on the main island for dinner, not only at the other part of the Sofitel, but also "downtown" in Vaitape. Good reatsurants sur as the Yacht Club and others come and pick you up. Good options for a change, with a little taste of the local life.

Staff on Sofitel private Island is very nice indeed, and really looking at providing a personalised service, with all the attention you may want. Rooms are very quiet, and it's possible to dive into the lagoon from your balcony (most rooms). Sofitel is also the best location for exploring at your will the Coral Garden, you can swim there.

One thing to avoid though : the Kite-surf lessons, organised across the bay close to the Intercontinental. The guy is strange, does not like beginners...and the area full of underwater rocks which are pretty scary, unless you are a confirmed kite-surfer already. Location is beautiful though.

Enjoy !

Sofitel Private Island is the only boutique hotel located on a Private Island, it’s the best choice if you are looking for tranquility and serenity. A free shuttle is available to you if you want to join the main island at any time of the day on demand.
Sofitel Bora Bora offers 3 catering services: Latitude 16 °, Hurricane and Manutuki. You can also enjoy various buffets (Polynesian, Seafood and International) with a Polynesian show at Marara or experience on romantic dinner at Private Island.
Complementary, free kayaks, fins, masks and snorkels are available to allow you to enjoy and admire our beautiful coral garden.
A great thank you for this nice feedback and see you soon at the Sofitel Private Island.

In addition to friendly personal service, this property has one of the best locations in Bora Bora. The sunset Champagne from the top of the motu is truly unique and allows you to enjoy the amazing beauty of Bora Bora at sunset with a touch of French decadence. The sunrise is also just as amazing from the opposite side of the private island. The food for dinner was better than five-star French restaurants in Papeete. Free boat service to the island is very convenient and if you want to stay late on the main island until the wee hours of the morning, as we did, it is also very easy to book private boats to get back. The other amazing thing about the resort is that it is located right next to Bora Bora's best coral garden, meaning you can eliminate at least on day activity and just swim around the Island in the tropical fish lagoon and drift back to your over-water bungalow. Location! Location! Location! Highly on the recommended list!

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience. What more beautiful than a sunset that you can admire from the Mont Chauve (highest point of our private island) and offers stunning views on the whole lagoon of Bora Bora?
Your feedback goes right at the heart of our restaurant teams who have the passion of excellence... As you notify a free shuttle is available all day, allowing you to reach the island at any time as you want.
We are delighted that you were able to enjoy the beauty of our coral garden.
Hope to see you again soon at Sofitel Private Island.
