“Honeymoon Paradise!”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

For our two week honeymoon in the French Polynesian Islands, we definitely saved the best for last. The St Regis Hotel was spectacular. We would have been extremely happy with our stays at Tahiti and Moorea had we not continued onto Bora Bora but as soon as we landed at the airport we new this was going to be something special. We were the only couple from the plane who were whisked away to the island paradise on a private speed boat.We were greeted by some of the staff members at the dock of the St Regis. Our butler Moetini greeted us wearing white gloves. He escorted us around the property by golf cart and explained the resort. We were registered in a superior overwater bungalow, which was gorgeous. It was a suite with a living room, huge canopy bed, double sinks, a rain shower, a bathtub and of course a large private deck. The resort is huge so there are bicycles you can ride around on or can be picked up at any location on the resort by one of the very nice staff members. Everything is just a phone call away. And even though the place is so big, the staff responds to your requests very quickly. Moetini made us feel like he would get us anything our hearts desired to make our stay even more special. Every staff member was extremely pleasant. The food was great but we especially liked the Lagoon restaurant and the buffet at the Polynesian night. I have to mention the breakfast as well. I have been eating eggs Benedict my hole life and didn't know how they really should taste until eating at the St Regis. Let's get back to Moetini. He is always around to help you with anything you need. With advise about the main island, or to help with reservations or even to get something special delivered to your room. On our second night after returning to our SOWB we found a heart of flower petals on our bed from the butler staff. The entire resort is immaculate. The views are stupendous. The spa is on a secluded little area surrounded by a lagoon with the most colorful fish and the couples message was exactly what you need on your honeymoon. There are kayaks, paddle boats and snorkel equipment available with your stay. There is a swim up bar in the pool and a palm tree lined beach. Our flight off the island was not until 5:45 pm so the hotel offered us a late check out. We were moved to a different room. A beach bungalow. A private beach, our own hammock and a private pool. The experience we had at the St Regis Bora Bora was pure luxury and by far better than we could have imagined and we will definitely look to stay at another St Regis in the future. It is truly a five star resort.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad choice of rooms at the resort.

It's hard to have a bad review of a St. Regis property anywhere in the world but this place was outstanding. Hotel representative picked us up on the private hotel boat and dropped us off at the hotel dock. Greeted with ice tea and followed by a golf cart tour of the resort. Amazing places to eat on the grounds, top of the line rooms over the water, you really can't beat it. There is something about being able to wake up and jump right into the ocean that is just awesome! Concierge was there to do anything you need, they were a great help booked excursions like a jet ski around the island! All staff were great and ready to help out at the drop of a hat.

The hotel was near capacity but it never ever felt loud or crowded. It always felt so calm and relaxing. Breakfast was always amazing, great to grab a couple big rolls of bread with jam for a day trip to the mainland. Hotels rooms were spotless with great little gifts each night (candy, cookies, post cards etc) Great coffee machine in the room, great sound system you could play throughout the bungalow too. Oh ya, and a bike sharing system where you can grab a bike and cycle around the grounds any time!

Room Tip: The further down the OWB line you are the better the view but less coral diving opportunities.

My husband and I visited the St. Regis Bora Bora for our honeymoon and had the most amazing experience. From the moment the St. Regis picked us up in their Yacht from the airport they made every effort to make our experience memorable. The location and view are unbeatable. The rooms are huge, private, and relaxing. I would never stay at any other resort in Bora Bora!

We stayed 5 nights in an SOWB - it was overly spacious, private and had a gorgeous view. At one point we had a problem with our room - so they moved us and upgraded us to the Royal OWB!! Out of this world. I dare say the best room in the resort. The view is phenomenal. Customer Service is top priority here - we knew it from the minute we stepped off the boat. Moetini greeted us and took care of us the entire time. We adore him, and felt like we made a friend in him. The resort is big, the beach and pool are gorgeous, grounds immaculate and food fantastic (they have golf carts to carry you around if the walk is too long). Te Pahu for dinner was our absolutely favorite - one of the two best meals we had on our 17 day island hopping journey. The Italian was good, the sushi very good and the Lagoon restaurant was very, very good. We regretted not ditching the Italian and eating at Te Pahu twice. The breakfast was amazing too. The rooms have hairdryers, safes, white bedding and good-cooling air conditioners - all important things to me. We had a couples massage at the spa (which was beautiful) and both really liked it. Highly recommended.

My husband and I booked a trip to French Polynesia to celebrate our Honeymoon. We spent 3 nights in Moorea and then we headed to Bora Bora, more specifically - The St. Regis, for 4 additional nights. When we got off the airplane in Bora Bora a hotel representative was waiting to escort us to the yacht that would be taking us to the resort. He welcomed us with waters and fresh towels to wipe down our faces with - it was HOT! The ride over was beautiful and the hotel rep filled out all our hotel documents so when we got there we were able to start enjoying. We were greeted at the hotel dock by two outstanding butlers - Sebastian and Lance. Sebastian then took us on a tour of the hotel before finally bringing us to our villa. We chose a mountain view villa - the inside and outside were both equally stunning - they even unpack your luggage for you at your request!! I will tell you that our time at the St. Regis started out a little rocky with a few small problems. The hotel staff took care of this immediately for us and the rest of our trip continued without a problem, they truly did their best to make up for it. The grounds are immaculate and even though the hotel was at 80% occupancy when we were there it was always quiet. The pools were stunning, the spa was relaxing, the massages were phenomenal, the lagoonarium was full of fish and the feeding was super informative and fun to be a part of. The restaurants were delicious - our favorite was Lagoon, where we chose a little extra and took the tasting menu with wine pairing. Simply divine.

On another note, I hope you are as lucky as we were to have Lance as your butler. He was there for us whenever we needed him and helped make our trip extra special. When I wanted to find a fresh coconut he even drove us around the resort and helped us find one. He really goes that extra mile for the guests, and you can tell that everyone at the hotel loved him. Special special THANKS to Lance!

Room Tip: Strongly suggest a room with a view of Mount Otemanu! It's just beautiful to watch - I could hav...

We just returned from a 6 day trip to the St. Regis and to sum it up, the trip, the resort, the people, the food and everything exceeded our expectations! As background we travel extensively for work and pleasure so our expectations were high. We are already planning a return trip to the St. Regis especially after doing an island jet ski tour and getting close to the other nicer resorts – nothing beats the St. Regis!!

1. The Resort. We knew we would receive great service upon arrival at the Bora Bora airport. The St. Regis rep greeted us with a gorgeous flower lei and arranged for some porters to find our luggage and get it onto the sleek boat to take us to the resort. We saw the other resorts required their guests to retrieve their own luggage and haul it to the boat. Upon arrival at the resort we were greeted with friendly white-gloved butlers and fresh juice with cool cloths. A nice and elegant touch! Our Butler (more on him below) immediately took us on a thorough resort tour since our bungalow was not ready. Our first impressions of the resort were that it was classy, intimate and exactly what we wanted – luxury tropical but not stuffy or formal.

2. The Butler. I had read mixed reviews on the St. Regis butlers. We scored! Lance took great care of us all week. He is an intern and has the best attitude of ANY hotel staff we have ever encountered. We felt so lucky he was assigned to us! Do be advised that the butlers assist multiple guests during your stay. We tried to ask for help as little as possible but each time we asked for a ride around the resort or anything else, Lance’s response was “As you wish”. He really did make us feel so welcome and special during our week. All of the staff were very friendly and kind. We often saw more staff than guests!

3. The Restaurants. We had worked with our travel agent ahead of time to book two off-site restaurants (Bloody Mary’s, Villa Mahana). We found the resort food to be 5 star with a definite French flair. We absolutely loved Te Pahu at the resort where you eat your buffet breakfast each day. They also serve lunch which is a better value with better service than sitting at the bar yet still casual. Dinner was also great here. Lagoon was amazing and we enjoyed the Sushi Take as well as the Italian place. All in all we felt no need to leave for 5 dinners but if we were staying longer we would have ventured off property to try a few things. We are already missing the amazing breakfast buffet including the homemade vanilla bean yogurt, banana bread, fresh fruit and yummy French pastries. The food was not as expensive as we had anticipated since we don’t drink alcohol and the portions were generous.

4. The Bungalow. We stayed in a superior overwater bungalow and it couldn’t have been nicer. It was huge, lovely, decorated in a great Polynesian style with a Bose surround sound system (bring your own iPod), 2 large TVs and a DVD player, and everything you need for comfort. We have never spent so much time in a resort room! There are views from every room including the closet to the lovely water. We didn’t see many fish but that is because the coral is not yet built up around the newer resort. We loved the touch of having an outdoor shower to rinse off when swimming off the bungalow. We also loved the little touches of receiving water and cookies each night with our turndown. It seemed each time we returned to our room they had refreshed it.

5. Excursions. We only did 2 all-day excursions. The first was a jet ski/ATV combo tour. We loved our guide and felt like we had a great feel for the entire island after our complete island jet ski tour that included a stop at a remote motu beach for fresh fruit followed by a long ATV tour to the highest point on Bora Bora with amazing views and history. The 2nd tour we did was with Raanui Tours and it was the highlight of our trip with guide Leo. It included 4 stops – the first with black tip sharks and sting rays. I hadn’t anticipated getting into the water but Leo made us so comfortable that it was an amazing experience! We also stopped to find the giant manta rays which we had never seen anywhere before. The next stop was the Coral Gardens for amazing snorkeling. The last stop was the “big sharks” – the 12+ foot coral sharks. This was just amazing! Leo was riding them so we felt comfortable getting in after the initial intimidation. We also got to hold an octopus Leo found. This was a life-changer for us! We have been snorkeling and on tours in a lot of destinations but this was the best. Don’t miss it even if you think you are afraid!! The tour picked us up right at the hotel and we were lucky to do the tour with only one other couple.

6. Shopping/Town. Don’t expect much shopping on this trip. There is very little to buy which is fine. The hotel has a boat shuttle that connects to a van several times a day to Vaitape, the small town on Bora Bora. It is very small and consists mostly of pearl shops but does have Chin Lee grocery. We got some drinks and cheese here to snack on which was nice to have in the room. Make sure you bring anything and everything you would anticipate needing whether it’s Benadryl, Advil, etc. because there really is nowhere to buy anything. The resort has a rather disappointing shop with very little other than minor necessities. We were hoping they would have had more of a high-end resort shop with clothing, etc. but it’s very limited.

7. Beach/Pool. The greatest part of our entire trip was the lack of other guests even though the resort was full. You truly feel like you are one of only a few guests at this exclusive resort. The beach boys will take great care of you. At the little towel hut they have SPF 30 and 50 as well as aloe and lotion to use if you need it. They also provide ice water and get your chairs ready. There are free kayaks and paddle boards to use. We loved the hammocks around the resort. As well don’t miss the beach and Lagoonarium. Wow – that was amazing, contained snorkeling! We loved lounging on the grass by the Lagoonarium outside of the spa with the view of Mt. Oto behind! There is also the Oasis pool with private cabanas and mini-pools that we loved. So many private places to enjoy and relax.

If you are wondering if the cost of the St. Regis is worth it – it is. If you are wondering if you should choose the St. Regis – don’t hesitate. We used Pacific For Less and couldn’t have been happier with the seamless service. Everything was perfect! Whether you are booking a honeymoon or getaway you will have the time of your life.

The St Regis Bora Bora is a class above the rest.

When we were planning this trip, we considered a number of properties and I used these reviews to help make our decision - so pleased we choose the St Regis. From arrival and welcome at the airport to our waved farewell from the hotel dock, the hotel and staff were superb. As every room has an allocated butler, there is always someone on hand to help with making this an exceptional holiday.

We stayed in a deluxe overwater villa with a lovely view from the deck of Mt Otemanu. Everything at the resort is well executed and the staff were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable - a brilliant combination.

Easy location to relax and absorb the beautiful surroundings, water, views, etc - we relaxed quickly during our 4 nights there (before going to Le Taha'a).

Our highlights were the view from the deck, superb diving off our deck into the lagoon, being able to grab a bike to simply ride around the resort, the lagoonarium and the discussion by the marine biologist (fascinating), the meal in the japanese restaurant, taking out the pedal boats and having rays cruising underneath us, feeding fish with fish food from the bridges etc - so many varieties, kayaking around the whole resort, and the exceptional service from all the staff.

We knew it was going to be expensive - so felt comfortable with that and enjoyed it up. In fact, if money was no object, wow - there are so many personalised tours, etc that you could enjoy... or check out the romance concierge service! We took the view that we were in a stunning in a location, where it is unlikely we will be returning, and so we should absolutely make the most of it.

Definitely recommend the St Regis Bora Bora as an exceptional choice to enjoy Bora Bora!
