The setting and place is beautiful, however the customer service received from the manager is very poor. I do not recommend to book as a large group it wasn't well received and resulted in poor service and bad attitude. This was sadly the only thing that let us down during our time in Newport, Pembrokeshire.

The wedding party was confronted by management for drinking their own alcohol at a specially arranged Barbecue which has led to three poor reviews from the same group. Please see our reply to China_DC's review of 14th July 2014.

Myself and my family have visited the manor many many times over forty years originally to the caravan park and more recently staying in the hotel. We have always found the management and staff to be very friendly and accommodating, bending over backwards to help in any way they can. The setting is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained throughout the year. The food is good and the friendly banter in the bar very entertaining! I am always happy to introduce new friends to Llwyngwair and without exception they have commented on what a fantastic place it is, and how friendly and welcoming everyone is. Will be back again very soon

Have stayed at the Manor as B&B and self catering customers over the last ten years , and called for a pint of beer over the last 30 years . Hotel and accommodation is spotlessly clean and customers are always treated with respect and dignity . There is always a good hwyl ( humour ) in the bar and a great place to meet the locals and people from all over the world . The staff are always courteous and efficient , Under the same Management for the last FORTY YEARS -- that says it all . I & N Nantgaredig .
P. S. going back soon !!!

We stayed in this Hotel with friends for a wedding.

We were very pleased with the lovely location.

We stayed for 3 nights and to our surprise no part of the stay was satisfactory.

Even though the room looked simple but nice, the beds felt old and sheets worn and damped.

There were bugs in our room, we got bitten by bugs in several parts, legs , feet, shoulder, etc. Not a nice feeling.

The carpet has not seen steam clean since 1999!.

They only made bed one of the days and did not leave a change of towels for the rest of the stay.

The rooms are extremely noisy, all doors, absolutely all doors slam.

The place has potential to be an amazing b&b but far from the services of a nice hotel.

It is popular because of the location and its history but overall I would have rate it as a very average hostel.

The customer service was the worst of it all.
Starting from the member of the staff shouting at the groom in front of all guest because he was drinking a 'beer' present brought from Belgium especially for him. To the management that did not make us feel warm at all.
We were continuously told off for a number of things that did not make sense.

On Sunday, do not expect food whatsoever.

The breakfast is at £7 approx per day. All you get is a greasy, very greasy English Breakfast. That greasy that egg was still frying in my plate when it got brought to me. The sausage and burgers are the cheapest quality you can find in Iceland. So not sure if I got a horse or pork meat sausage.

Coffee is based on a dark watery pot plus additional pot of boiled water in case the first watery Americano was too strong.

Toast burnt (black burnt!)

In short, don't pay for breakfast. It's not worth it and there are some other small coffee places nearby with better views.

We had an amazing time because we were there to celebrate our friends wedding and it was their very special moment. The stay in this place was the only one thing that did not contribute to it.

In theory it has the potential to be an outstanding place, but sadly the management let it down.

We were staying at the manor for a wedding occupying the whole place with family and friends.

The management were rude and not welcoming. We felt like we were not staying at an hotel that should provide hospitality, but at a school where we were being told off by a teacher.

When the World Cup finals were on we moved some chairs so that we could all sit together by the tv and we got told off...
We had a few drinks outside on the terrace when we arrived and got told off that we were only alowed to purchase drinks from the bar, however this wasn't stated anywhere (staying in the apartments/hotel we had no outside area so we thought it was nice to enjoy the weather outside after a 6 hour drive)
There was no food available on Sunday afternoon even though it's states that it was only unavailable Sunday evening, so we were all left having to eat packet of crisps...

In addition to this we had no hot water or power in the shower, the beds were old & very uncomfortable, the doors would slam very often waking up our 9 month old baby...the hotel rooms toilet paper was not replenished, nor would they make the beds...

However it is in a gorgeous setting, it was very clean and the bar staff were very friendly and made a it a more memorable experience.

Roger and Marilyn were managing the hotel and holiday park before we bought the business in 1987. The feedback that they have received over the years has been of such a high standard that we count their customer service and management of the holiday park as a key selling point. With this in mind it is a surprise to receive a number of negative reviews from the same wedding party. Having conducted an investigation into the weekend by listening to other customers who were present and taking into account staff and management views we are happy that management took the appropriate action in confronting the wedding party for drinking their own alcohol at the specially arranged barbecue. We have no doubt that Marilyn and Roger will continue to provide a high level of customer service and deal with any future incidents in a reasonable and fair manner.
Two of the wedding party reviews raise issues that do not concern the management. We feel that much of the criticism is borne from ill feeling towards management following the dispute, however, we will address some of the issues (the power of the shower in one apartment, the noise of closing doors and some new mattresses) before the 2015 season.
