Very nice indeed. A nice choice of largely standard fare, well cokked and nicely presented. Really nice cakes, especially the Orange & Rosemary.

This is a little gem for light lunches and bites. Very friendly staff and good service.
They have a small outside area to the front, but the road is not exactly a busy thoroughfare and the odd shopper popping into the Spar opposite is all that you might see (it is not on the main Cardigan - Fishguard road). The inside has tables for 4 and 6 (and probably more by putting tables together). There are some local interest books on the window sill - a nice touch, and odd toys for children. The food is prepared freshly as it is ordered. The toasted sandwiches comes with an excellent salad garnish and tea in tea pots.
Did I go back? Yes! Newport has a charm that is absent in Fishguard (or even Cardigan) and the town is well worth a detour and an exploration of its back streets. Limited parking opposite, but pay-and-display further down across the main road.

We were looking for somewhere for a light bite and happened upon the Fronlas. I opted for a cheese and coleslaw sandwich and my Husband had a toasted ham and cheese. The bread was beautifully fresh and both were served with a lovely side salad - in fact, mine was a meal in itself as the amount of cheese that was packed into the sandwich was enormous! The home made cakes on display were very tempting and my Husband succumbed to the coffee and walnut cake. The waitress brought a large slice to us and presented it to us with two forks - in case I fancied a portion - I did and it was, without doubt, the best I had ever tasted. The waitress was very friendly and attentive and, all in all, I would certainly recommend the Fronlas.

This is a lovely, friendly cafe that also has a gluten-free menu, so I was able to have essentially the same cooked breakfast as my husband, but with homemade gluten-free bread and gluten-free sausages, which was lovely! We were both pleasantly stuffed.

The cafe is on the main street in Newport, and there is an inexpensive car park just down the hill.

Recommended for gluten-free or regular diets alike!
