“Perfect relaxing week !!”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

Where to start!

Looked for a weeks all inclusive guaranteed sun and relaxation. Found this through Thomsons.

Just a 10 min coach transfer from the airport, which may make you think it'll be noisy but as only 2 airlines use this airport I think we only heard 1 plane go over head per day.

Reception area, which is the first thing you see on arrival, is absolutely stunning! This is the only place you can pick up a Wifi connection, and it's not quick, but sitting there once a day with a drink is all part of the relaxation process.

Our room was gorgeous and huge, see below.

Pool area .... WOW! Just perfect, 2 pools intertwined, one heated to 27 and one to 21 degrees, and a kids pool. Load of sun beds available, clean towels everyday. 2 other pools (which weren't filled during our stay as the end of the winter) make the choice so difficult. Staff from the swim up pool bar come around to see if you need a refill!

Entertainments ranged from the usual Pilates/ stretching and aqua aerobics to dance lessons , staff were knowledgable and great fun to spend time with.

Staff throughout the complex are some of the best I've come across; waiting staff, cleaning staff, bar staff, entertainers never stop smiling and checking that you don't need anything, they really do genuinely seem delighted that you are there. And you'll find that they can remember your personal requirements after just 1 day, from your drink to what you like for breakfast!

Food, buffet style in the main restaurant, was fantastic at each meal. Great choice, local and what you'd expect to find. We personally had no issues eating salads or having ice in our drinks, I think this hotel is of such a good standard that the hygiene and food safety issues you are warned about are just not a problem. There are other restaurants which you can pay to use but we didn't take advantage of this.

Beach area has loads more sun beds and a bar. Coral, rocky at the waters edge, was very windy when we were there, swimming was black flagged every day we were there but is just meant that you had to stay in the shallows, if you could find room for all the beautiful fish!! Do not forget your snorkel!! Water is warm and so clear, beautiful!

There is a sister hotel which has a water park and is more aimed at families next door but apart form that not a lot else within walking distance, so if it's shops and restaurants you want this may not be the best place for you, if you want perfect relaxation in the sun then THIS IS thE ONE!

Overall .... I really cannot recommend this hotel enough. If the rumours that I read on here before we went about Thomsons ditching this hotel are true, then I think they are making a huge mistake, I would definitely make the effort to get there again independently!

I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Room Tip: 4312, slight sea view, away from bar entertainment noise, perfect. Big room, balcony, over bath sho...

Visited hotel for 1 week in March 2014. Have been to a number of different hotels in Marsa Alam previously. Hotel very close to the airport so a quick transfer and did not notice the planes during the holiday. Hotel and room kept in reasonable condition. Beds are very hard. When visiting, the hotel was only about a third full. Even with so few people it was difficult to get a drink in the restaurant. Most of the Egyptian hotels let guests serve themselves to wine. Here the waiters bring half a small glass each time which means they have to spend much of their time getting refills. Their time would be much better spent making sure that the tables etc. were laid properly as we found there was often cutlery etc. missing. As with most all inclusive hotels the fruit juice and other drinks are watered down. Here the food was often cold. Most of the meat apart from the chicken I found inedible as it was so tough. I have had better food at other hotels in Marsa Alam. I mainly visit the red sea area for snorkelling. It was unfortunate that the jetty was closed the whole week due to the wind. It appears from past reviews that this if a frequent occurrence. If this happened we had intended to walk round to the Coraya Bay. Which we did. However, there was a man on the edge of the hotel grounds trying to stop people from going. If you are going to the red sea for snorkelling then I would not go to this resort there are better in the area which are not so affected by the weather conditions.
If you want to just go to relax and sit around the pool then this resort is very good. The pools are excellent. The best I have had in an Egyptian hotel. The smaller one was heated which is welcome at this time of year. I cannot fault the staff. The gardeners, room guys, barmen and restaurant guys and reception staff are all very friendly and all having a laugh and a joke even though they all work very long hours.
The animation team were not good and even some of the acts they brought in for the cultural shows were quite poor. However, I suppose this is a sign of the lack of tourists in Egypt at the moment which is a shame because there has not been any trouble in this part of Egypt.
Wifi in the hotel was only available in the reception area and although it was free it was very very slow.

Just returned from our third visit to the Resta Grand Resort. The hotel is still well maintained and very comfortable. THE pool areas are clean and it is a tribute to the cleanliness that not one person in our party had any hint of tummy trouble. Congratulations to the kitchen manager and staff for this and the well prepared and varied food. The lovely staff continue to try their very best in every aspect of their hospitality. The beach restaurant was in the process of decoration so not open but as the hotel was only about a third full this had no impact on service in the main restaurant. Extremely good value . We wish them a successfully year and look forward to another visit.

My husband and I had two weeks here in February for some winter sun and it was fantastic relaxing and plenty of sun, it was my husbands birthday and we were surprised when the waiter came to our room with a beautiful chocolate cake and we didn't even mention that it was his birthday!!! there were a couple of cards in the room other than that maybe they took the date from his passport it was a lovely touch! the staff were really pleasant, helpful and friendly.
The gardens were amazing and the gardeners really worked hard. Sam in the bar was brilliant always remembering your drinks and nothing was too much trouble. If you want a holiday in the sun just to relax and unwind then this is for you the best sun beds that I have ever had they were perfect, plenty of room and you could sit wherever you wanted to at any time! The beach was very clean and the fish were out of this world our first time in Eygpt but not our last.
We will return and would recommend this hotel.

My sister and I just returned from. 7 night break in the Resta Grand Resort Marsa Alam. We had a very relaxing few days eating and drinking and enjoying being taken care of by all the staff. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The food was plentiful and always beautifully displayed .
We couldn't have wanted or asked for more.
The only niggle I had was on entry to the country you have to have a visa stamped in your passport by the staff in the airport, the money to pay for the visa had to be given to someone on the transfer coach, although the visa states $15 to be paid, the person collecting the money refused my dollars and insisted on £s or Egyptian which worked out a lot more than my $s

Room Tip: If you have any choice of room go for rooms in the 400s as they are smack in the middle of all the f...

This was our second time at the hotel, which they did recognise and had upgraded our room to a room by the pool and close to reception. We never visit the same place twice although always enjoy our holidays. Although we had a lovely relaxing time it wasn't as good as last year, the plateau restaurant on the beach was closed the zeit zaitoun and the marsa club house restaurant were allegedly open but deserted and the el sala pub had closed down. Last year they had a fantastic singer in the evenings for the entertainment this year we had the most appalling animation team I have had on a holiday, and with no where else to go we were lumbered with them.I agree with the comments about how hard it was to get tea and coffee at breakfast, however Sammy in the space restaurant made up for the short fallings of others with his smile. Also Sam in the bar was fantastic. I only drink wine and found it very annoying that I was only given half a small glass of watered down wine at a time I would have preferred to pay for a decent glass. We went into Port Ghalib and although it made a nice change it was very quiet there so the troubles in the country are defiantly effecting tourism. If you want a holiday in the sun and you want to totally relax on fantastic sun beds then this is the place for you, however if you want a choice of food and a little low key entertainment then choose another hotel

We have just returned from this hotel after our 5th visit. This is a good hotel with good customer relations, the staff go out of their way to please, even in the "Space" restaurant where things can get a bit hectic, the waiters, Wagih, Samy, Mohamed, Sam and others too numerous to mention went out of their way to always try to please and share in conversation even at busy times. If I had to have a grumble it would be directed at the lack of "A la carte" restaurants on offer, other hotels we have visited usually allow you to visit one of these free during your stay, other than that both my wife and myself have no grumbles. We always go to these places with an open mind and when we hear other guests moaning about trivial things it really does make me think what they have gone for in the first place. If you want sunshine, good food, excellent room comfort and luxurious settings go and book the "Resta Grand"

Room Tip: rooms 2801 to 2804 are convenient for everything
