Two weeks at this hotel and I can't fault anything.
Perfect service, amazing staff and animation team, peaceful, hot weather and comfortable, excellently cleaned rooms.
This is my second stay at Lamaya and I would without a doubt stay here again.

We returned from a two week stay at the hotel. The hotel and rooms were always kept clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Especially the thomson rep who helped us out with finding nappies for the last couple of days for our little girl(2), also the chef in the main restaurant who would always cook up a plate of chips for her when there wasn't anything she would eat. The food was good in both the main restaurant and the beach bar at lunch times. The waterpark was only a few minutes walk from the hotel and was a great way to spend the morning or afternoon. It included a childrens pool and slides. As well as the bigger ones.

Just got back on 24th July, this was the best holiday we have had for many reasons, the hotel is clean, rooms are excellent staf are friendly and helpfull and are always on hand if you need them.
The thomson rep Ahmed is the most helpfull and genuine person ever and is always around the hotel to give advice or just have a chat even when he is off duty.
Animation team are good as they do not hassle you to join in but plenty goinig on if you want it.
Thomson's and the staff at Lamaya Thank You for a wonderfull Holiday.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms with a sea view are the best.

Returned from a fantastic 2 week holiday on the 17th of July. It did get busier on the last week through children finishing school. I was with my mum, stepdad and friend and were both 16. We flew with Thomson which was a 5 and a half hour flight. Do not choose seat row 12 on the plane because you end up with no window like we did and not a lot of leg room. I kept myself entertained by watching films on my ipad because there are no televisions on the plane.

When we got to the Egypt airport the Thomson rep Ahmed met us there and told us all about the area, he was lovely and the best rep iv knew! he also took me and my family out to port ghalib for a night which was very nice of him. it was only a 10 minute drive from the airport to the hotel. When we arrived to the hotel we was given a damp towel to pat our faces and a drink. We was given stickers with our room numbers on and then we left our suitcases at the reception while we looked around the hotel. At first we did have a problem with our room because there was scaffolding over our balcony but the staff at reception didn't hesitate to move us to a different room. Even though there was only me and my friend in one room we ended up in a family room which was really big and it was always kept clean.

All the staff are so friendly and always having a laugh with you. Also the animation team are so good are getting you involved, there are loads of activities to do throughout the day like Bowls on the beach, water polo, volley ball, archery, darts, aeromix, aqua aerobics and just playing around in the pool. Dieter and mo mo were lovely and always chatting to us. And all the animation team put on a brilliant show at night, they practiced throughout their dinner and late hours.

At the night there is the show at half 9 but of you didn't want to go to the show there is a man on karaoke till 11pm who is really good and gets you involved and dancing, after the show some of the animation team do join in and get up dancing especially mo mo.

We are defiantly retuning next year, the hotel was 10x better than the hotels we have been to in sharm.

So excited to be back in lberotel lamaya resort next July.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 1151 which is quieter and was a big family room with a walk in shower, a couch a bu...

We had a brilliant holiday here. Great pools, lovely room great location near beach and pool. Great access for snorkelling for us amateurs. Food was good choice varied and the beach bar great at lunch time for a wee change. Ahmed from Thomsons is the most attentive rep I have ever experienced. He was always around, knew all the kids names etc. Momo and the rest of the animation team worked tirelessly to keep people entertained and even came in on their day off. Tip for anyone with a bad tummy go to the Bar and ask for ouzo that is what they suggested for me and it worked a treat. An improvement that could be made is the consistency of the waiter service. Having stayed at Iberotel before we expected waiter service at he pool and more at table service at meals and at the bar. Think this may be reduced due to lack of tourists in Egypt this year. We will definitely return .

Returned this morning (5am back home) from a week's holiday at this resort.
Our primary intention was scuba diving, and we were not disappointed. We searched for reviews of hotel house reefs, and this one was highly thought of.

I'll review the diving first. Coraya Divers are based at the Lamaya hotel, but cater for the other hotels in the group, including the adults only Coraya Beach Resort hotel on the other side of the bay. This has to be one of the busiest diving operations I have yet seen, but so well organised that you didn't have to wait for more than a few seconds at reception before a member of staff asked to help. Multiple boat and bus dives available each day, and access to the house reef freely available for qualified divers. All of the staff were incredibly nice and helpful, and when the diving is finished they calculated the cheapest payment options.
One feature we liked particularly, was that weights are kept by the diving pier and are taken on the various trips, which means you don't have to carry them more than a few feet into the water. As soon as you exit, willing staff take the tank and weights from you, as well as helping you in and out of your kit. They try and do as much as possible for you and seem hurt if you insist on doing everything for yourself :-).

The house reef was very good for photographs, although the rough seas had stirred up the sand in places making the vis just like UK's in some areas.

Now the hotel. Achmed the Thomson Rep (and no relation to the Dead Terrorist he said) is very friendly and obliging, offering the loan of his own iPad if you need internet access and don't want to pay the hotel for the privilege. We didn't need him for any assistance, but he was frequently available at the hotel should any guest need him.

Ahmed at the lobby bar was extremely friendly and likeable, as well as capable, conversing easily with guests of many nationalities.

The food was varied if not exceptional. Much of the meat was beef, with chicken second in quantity and variety, then fish and lamb. Plenty of pasta, rice and salad and veggies for the non-carnivores. Easy access to soft drinks via self-service machines in the restaurant and the other bars saves waiting for bar staff, an excellent idea.

The entertainment was mainly carried out by a small band of in-house "animators" who arranged the day-time sporting activities too (volleyball, water polo, aerobics etc.) The evening entertainment was a little amateurish therefore, but with a few really humorous antics. One evening included some professional entertainers, a "belly dancer" who was good, but over used, and a "whirling Dervish" character, spinning around for a long time, clearly acting out a story. Excellent!

We were a little concerned at the media reports of Egypt's troubles, but the FCO advice was that the Red Sea resort areas were not restricted, and I'm happy to say there was no sign of any problems at all. Achmed the Rep told us that our visit was particularly appreciated at this time and everyone would be made especially welcome , because so many would-be visitors had cancelled, putting a great many jobs at risk.

Only one disappointment really, but not unexpected. Although the pools are large, and there are hundreds of sunbeds around them, unless you arise at the crack of dawn and claim them with a towel yourself, you had little chance of bagging one after breakfast. So annoying to see so many unoccupied sunbeds especially under the shaded areas. Not going to name any nationalities in particular, but you can probably guess.
