Just got back from two weeks at the Lamaya and wanted to write a review as a thank you really! not for the beautiful hotel setting, the lovely food, the gorgeous red sea snorkeling But for the lovely, lovely staff that made us feel valued and ensured our continued happiness the whole time we were there. All the staff at the Lamaya are outstanding in their ability to make you feel welcomed and special from the guy who polishes the reception floor to the waiters and room cleaner (Ehab your a star) they really are a fantastic bunch and the management should be very proud of them.
The animation guys are brilliant and we will miss Teemo's (sorry not sure of spelling) call for "waterpolo" at 11.15 every morning. Ahmed the Thompson holiday rep is the biggest asset to the hotel and Thompson, he will sort anything out for you (except find pool que chalk, only joking) and is a lovely, lovely man who deserves a massive pay rise!!!!! Thanks to all of you for making our holiday special.
Practically; Marsa alam is hotter than the center of the earth so stock up on the factor 50+. We did get abit of travelers diarrhea' not because its dirty just because that's what happens to your digestive system when you travel to far flung places! we bought some medication from the pharmacy for four of us which cost 50 euros the antibiotic is; antinal/diax ( nifuroxazide) not sure if you can get it in uk? The water park is ok to spend a couple of hours and we went on a couple of trips; turtle spotting with colona (organized by Ahmed) which was amazing and a trip to Safaga which we bought ourselves which wasn't as good because it was a long trip (two hours by bus and two by boat) and the rough sea meant I spent the whole journey back throwing up into breakfast bag (attractive) wish we had done the desert safari instead!
On the whole though it was a fantastic holiday and the hotel, food and staff are great we all enjoyed it and would definitely go back (in the cooler months perhaps) The only down side for me was watching my 11 year old son get punched in the face by the angry German kid for absolutely no reason at all but while we can pick our hotels unfortunately the hotel cannot pick their guests!!!!

Room Tip: ask for a ground floor beach or pool facing room.

It was my 8th time in Egypt and to be honest it was the first hotel where I would like to come back. AS SOON AS IT'S POSSIBLE. I can recommend Lamaya to families with children, people who are looking for peace&quiet and even party-lovers.
Hotel looks like every other 5-star hotel in Egypt. Rooms are nice and tidy. Food was delicious and didn't find it difficult to prepare a meal.
However the biggest advantage of Lamaya Resort is it's staff. People who work there are the nices people on earth, very kind and helpful. They aren't annoying, don't ask for tips all the time, don't disturb.
Animation team is not only entertaining but also R E A L. I mean that they really get on with people, became friends and want to spend time with them also after their working hours. They used to sit with us in the looby about 1 am and just talk. It was awesome. In comparison to the other hotels where I've been - best animation!

Just back from a week at the Lamaya in Marsa. The staff are fantastic, accommodating and friendly. The hotel itself is clean and the rooms are spacious. The chefs aim to cater for all tastes, and if you have any suggestions or see anything you don't like, they will immediately work towards rectifying this. (My dad asked for potato salad as they didn't have any at their salad bar, that same evening they had made up a batch and asked him to test it for them!). They really cant do enough for you to ensure every part of your holiday is positive.
The beach is clean, the beach bar has a range of food, and the snorkelling is great.
The only point I will make is that whilst the animation team work extremely hard with activities during the day, there is not much to do in the evening.

Room Tip: Always ask for a sea room view, the view is beautiful.

We stayed here towards the end of May and had a great experience. We got a great deal for the hotel on an all inclusive basis and really liked the complex. The location is great, not too far from the airport and very close to the marina which has local shops and a few bars and restaurants, which is great if you want a break from the all inclusive. The actual hotel was really nice, great pool, nice beach area and the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The weather was amazing, always hot and the jetty leading to the sea was perfect for snorkelling. The room was also bigger than I expected, so had a lot of space. The only downside is that there is only one all inclusive restaurant so the food can be repetitive, but the outside buffet added a bit of variety. We did a couple of tours ... one was a day of snorkelling to see turtles and another was visiting a camp, where we also got to drive go karts and ride camels. Both were great experiences, the snorkelling was well worth it to see the different sea life and the camp was a full day, but done in a relaxed manner. Our holiday rep Ahmed, was extremely helpful, it felt like no ask was too much. Overall it was a great week and I would highly recommend it.

The only reason the holiday was terrible was because we had to come home.
this was our second visit to this hotel and it was just as good this time having had douts if we should return as our first visit was excellent.
all the staff were friendly from the moment we arrived.
The animation team work very hard but are not over the top if you want to join in you can ut are happy if you just want to relax .
Ahmed the Thomsn rep was excellent and very helpfull, we had the misfortune of having to visit the hospital (no fault of the hotel) and Ahmed made sure we were looked after.
We met a great family who shared the 5 o'clock start to get a sun bed (thanks Liv) we were a bit loud at times but no one cared as everyone seemed to be having a great holiday.
We would recommend the VIP boat trip ,Colona divers who took us out were brilliant and the snorkeling is great.
Quad bike safari in the afternoon and coming back at night was an experience not to be missed.
A trip down to Port Ghalib has to be a must just to go to the Wunderbar for some of the best food you can get.
Thanks to all at Lamaya.
We would rec

Just returned from Egypt, where we stayed at the Iberotel Lamaya, what a great holiday, my family and me have never had such a fun and relaxing holiday all at the same time.

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by the mangers who had cold drinks and wet face wipes for us, this was a excellent touch, as the temperature was in the 30, they also kept the food hall open for us in case we were hungry, which after a 5 hour flight every one was starving.

Our bags were then taken to our rooms by a porter ( thank you). The rooms are probably the nicest we have ever stayed in and are cleaned daily, the hotel it self is excellent.

PROS
Food is excellent
Staff are so helpful
Mixed nationality
Day time entertainment excellent (Sam is so good at his job, thank you)
Pool is spotless
Plenty of sun loungers
Do not have to que at the bar for a drink, as you are waited on, as soon as your drink is empty a waiter will turn up and ask if you would like another ( they are so efficient, it is unbelievable, well done )
Entertainment at night in the arena is good
Beach and snorkelling is excellent
Restaurants and beach bars are amazing
Thomson have a great rep based at the hotel

CONS
Reception staff at times are miserable and make you feel like you are putting them out when you ask for help
Night time entertainment by the bar needs improving, they have a singer who really needs to take some lessons

Overall value for money is excellent, the Egyptians are the friendliest people I have ever met, thank you so much for looking after my family, we are booking up for next year.

Room Tip: All rooms are brilliant but, if you can get a sea facing one, you will be more than happy

Stayed here in April...bit late reviewing!

Near airport was great - 15 mins transfer and only 2 flights a day so no plane noise.

Food - lots of choice and good quality. Head Chef offered a tour of the kitchen which we did - was like a hospital! Clinically clean.

In terms of hygiene and cleanliness it was astonishingly good. Big worry is getting ill and reputation for Egypt is generally not good. Issue IMO is the buffet approach generally - touching handles from hundreds of other people - which is anywhere in the world. Use alcohol gel liberally. My only comment would be that this should be enforced by the hotel management for all guests.

No Russians! - big plus as generally they stand out a mile when on holiday load, brash and inconsiderate!

Snorkelling and Diving - just magical. Saw turtles in the bay just off the jetty! The dive school is the most efficient I've been too and would also recommend them. The shore dive from the rib was also great - no big crowds, just you and a buddy and off you go! Magical.

Thomson rep was well beyond what I'd expect and was very attentive.

This resort is so far from any trouble in Sharm or Cairo it's perfectly safe so don't worry. Just go!
