“Pleasantly surprised!”

We had low expectations for anyplace in the middle of Alaska, and we were pleasantly surprised. The cabin was clean, the proprieters were friendly, and the breakfast was good. They even had adorable huskie puppies for sale while we were there. It's a great place to stay. It was charming and cozy.

We spent 16 days traveling all over Alaska and this was hands-down our favorite place. I have never, ever seen such clean, inviting cabins! I am such a clean freak that I bring our own sheets no matter how expensive the hotel, but in this place I was completely comfortable. When we arrived the cabin was pre-heated and the lights on for us. The shower was sparkling clean with nice fluffy towels and a heat lamp. We stayed in the Bush Pilot room, and it was decorated well without being cutesy. The bed was very comfortable and there was a cool guest log and it looks like In the morning the owner made us Belgian waffles, coffee, juice, eggs and homemade berry jams (included in the room price). We could take a tray back to our room but we chose to sit in the breakfeast nook with her while she told us great stories of homesteading and raising sled dogs. The rest of staff too was crazy helpful, and the grounds were really interesting with exhibits everywhere. The gift shop was full of a diverse collection and seriously reasonable prices and we got a lot of our gift shopping done there. We saw some of the best prices for local arts there. We bought a sled dog harness and got advice on how to begin running dogs (the owners ran and finished the first Iditarod). It was truly a highlight of a really extensive, wonderful exploration of Alaska! We will for sure go back the next trip.

Adorable, cute cabins. I made reservation a month in advance. We stayed on my husband's birthday, and they made a birthday cake for him! The cabins are clean with all the ammenities. Cozy beds, too. They have puppies on site, for sale. Loved just sitting back and watching them. Park across the street for the kiddos to run around. Had breakfast ready for us in the a.m. in the breakfast nook. Very good breakfast. Left very satisfied. Will stay here again. Also have a gift shop on site with a lot of neat collectibles.

these are very nice, comfortable, well appointed cabins at the far end of Tok. The complimentary breakfasts (home made belgium waffles) were particularly good. The only down side is that it's a long way away from "Fast Eddie's" which is the only decent eating option in Tok.

On balance, it probably makes sense to stay at Youngs motel (next to Fast Eddie's) even though the rooms are not as nice (see seperate review).

We stayed here twice during our trip. Once on the way to the Yukon, then again on the way back. Great little cabins. Nice decor. Clean. Wonderful breakfast and friendly staff. The owner of the establishment lives on the premises and is delightful. We hope to visit Alaska again and will definately stay here.
There are only a few cabins, so make your reservations in advance!

The Burnt Paw and Cabins is located along the Alaska Highway half way between Anchorage and Whitehorse Yukon. If you are planning to drive between these two points, it makes sense to stop. I was glad I did. The cabins are rustic on the outside complete with sods roofs. However once you are inside, you have all the amenities of a luxury hotel but not the price of one. My favorite part of this experience is the themed rooms each decorated with the room's theme. I stayed there two nights staying in the Prospector and Angler. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and I must say I was more than satisfied with the selection. The staff prepare your breakfast fresh for you so you need not worry about eating food that sits under a heat lamp. In addition, you have an ample choice of what to eat and how much to eat. It is comforting to know such establishments exsist where customer first still applies. If you ever find yourself travelling along the Alaska Highway and end up in Tok, stop in and pay the Burnt Paw and Cabins a visit.
