“This place is awful!”

Being from Texas, we should have known better than to eat Mexican food in Alaska, but it had been 24 days since we left Houston and we were having withdrawals. The restaurant had several cars in the parking lot so we thought that was a good sign. Boy, we're we wrong!

It took 10 minutes before we were seated. There were two waitresses and although the place was busy there were only 9 tables with customers. The service was awful! We were there nearly 20 minutes before our waitress brought chips and salsa and we waited over an HOUR for our food once our orders were finally taken.

Unfortunately, the wait wasn't worth it. The food was salty, not fresh and lukewarm. The rice was bland, the chicken was dry and the chile rellleno soggy. Yuk!

The waitress kept apologizing and said we would receive a 10% discount because of our wait. She also offered us a free serving of their fried ice cream because "it's delicious!" NOT! The outer fried coating was tough and chewy making us think it had been fried much earlier in the day or maybe even the day before. They couldn't even get ice cream right!!

Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else in Tok - Sal and Scott's Four Amigos is just a waste of your time (lots of it) and your money (lots of it.)

If you haven't eaten here, GO! It is a quiet restaurant. I believe it is fairly new. The salsa is some of the best I've tasted...very fresh & flavorful. Our server told us the salsa is a secret recipe made daily. Food is tasty & plentiful. Service is great! If I lived in Tok, I'd be a regular at Four Amigos. Thank you for the recommendation, Mrs. Arpino (owner of Burnt Paw Cabins)!
