Description: The Fat mermaid sits on the waterfront with a great view of the harbor and mountains. Chef Joel Brown has a fresh and innovative way to create seafood dishes that everyone enjoys and appreciates. We have a love for preparing great pizzas, burgers, steaks and pasta from scratch. We also produce gluten free, healthy and vegan items. Our bar host spirits and over 15 different craft beers on tap.

The food was excellent and creative. We hadn't expected to find cuisine like that what looked like a burger bar. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. It took a loooong time for the food to come out, but our waiter kept the drinks filled.

It was pricier than we expected (and we live in Alaska, so the higher prices don't normally catch us by surprise), so we didn't have the budget to try other places to eat in town. :/

We actually landed there because I had been told there was free wifi and I had time-sensitive work to upload while we were vacationing. I wasn't able to do that there.

The sandwiches and burgers were decently priced. Had we all ordered off of that part of the menu, we would have sliced our bill in half, Literally, in half.

There's a fun picture of a Fat Mermain witha face cut out outside where you can take a picture.

Went in, sat down, waited 10 mins for waitress. Took our order, then said: "Oh, by the way, it's at least an hour before we can get you any food. We're too backed up." Not good with three kids who'd just spent the day sea kayaking. Tried to order a quick app to hold the kids over. "No, nothing for an hour." As we left I looked into the kitchen. Only one person working. Just stupid business. Went back to our campsite and made soup and girlled cheese in the rain--and had a GREAT time doing so. Skip this place!

Fortunately we were able to eat outside, very hot inside. Long wait, food was OK. You can people watch the locals while you wait for your food.

The location was wonderful, good food, a little pricey and the service was slow, but it was the 4th of July. The tuna Poke was served on a bed of rice and was different than I am used to, but delicious! I would order it again for sure. My Hubby had a burger and fries which he said were better than average. There is a full bar and the patio is great seating.
