We arrived late after a long drive from Fairbanks and accommodation at a premium for the fishing contest. To find such a this then be invited to share a meal with the family was a real bonus. We had collected Lorna and Bills card from the visitors centre and, luckily, a room was available. We had two wonderful nights in Valdez. It was great to meet a young family making a real effort with establishing their B and B. Everything was clean, very comfortable and we had an opportunity to do some washing. Breakfast was very good with a choice of cereal, fruit and breads. It was just like being at home. We would rank this as one of the best we had on our travels in the USA.

House on the Rock B&B was a very clean and comfortable place to stay....we had more then enough room for three guys enjoying our Alaskan fishing trip! Lorna and Bill were very helpful, there children were a joy. They couldn't have made us feel more comfortable had we been family!" We had all the accomodations of "home" and we left Valdez, Alaska with the feeling of having made "new friends!" Do not hesitate to call Lorna and Bill at the House on the Rock B&B for your next trip to Valdez, Alaska. They Truly know how to make their guests comfortable!

A great place to stay, owned by Lorna and Bill wise and they run the B and B along with the assistance there 7 year old twin girls and 5 year old son. The family makes every client feel more like part of the family. Expect a visit from the children daily with results of there school day or bible studies. They are such a delight. My friends and I where in Valdez on a fishing trip and we found the B and B to be all we were looking for and more. The B and B consist of rooms off the common kitchen area. The rooms are large with two clean (with fresh linen) large beds were provided In our case we needed beds for three so they added another twin to accommodate us. The room had a wall mounted large screen television. Also provided was dresser for clothes for extended stay and stands for luggage for shorter stays. In each room a private bathroom with shower was provided. The kitchen was full service and a great continental breakfast was provided. Our stay was for a few days so we bought food and prepared our own meals as most restaurants where closed by the time we came off the water. Other amenities offered were free washer and dryer and a living room complete with massage chair which came in handy after a long day on the water. I would recommend this B and B to anyone knowing they will find the place as friendly, clean, and as accommodating as we did. Bob

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms

Mr. and Mrs. Wise, two little girls and one little boy are all super nice and really helped us a lot in Valdez.Thank you first! The rooms are clean, breakfast is good, and not bad wifi speed, and they get a massage chair. Mrs.Wise and girls clean the room everyday, and they will provide all kinds of information for travelers (it's really convenient to have local tour guide). We(i was with my parents) were even invited to have dinner with the family! 总之,就是超赞的!北京再见~ or see you guys in Michigan, go blue!

House on the Rock is a new B&B in Valdez and was able to accommodate us during the busy summer with very short notice when every other place we called was full. We stayed for 2 nights and the owners Bill and Lorna were easy-going, friendly, and flexible. The facility is the first floor of a 2-story home in a residential neighborhood which has been converted to host travelers. The place was immaculate with a very clean kitchen and common area. We were housed in a very nice private bedroom with both a queen and twin bed and a private bathroom along with a flat screen TV and free WiFi. Not to mention, free laundry facilities which was a HUGE plus for weary backpackers. What more could you ask for? And even a massage chair! One of us is normally very hesitant to walk barefoot on carpeted floors in hotels but here it was a non-issue since it was so clean. There was a $10 discount if you didn't want to partake in the continental breakfast and we appreciated that as an option since we preferred going out into town for a hot breakfast. Overall this was a very solid comfortable stay in Valdez. Don't expect great Alaskan views or a rustic cabin here, but if you need a clean warm comfortable quiet and secure residential home to spend a couple nights in, this should suit you just as well as any hotel in Valdez.
