My wife and I stayed here overnight on a trip from North Pole to Anchorage, I hate to stay in the city and was looking for something different and did we find it. The day we checked out, we were fortunate and all the rooms were vacant and being cleaned, all of them with a different theme and all of them looked like a lot of fun to stay in, most with local pieces in the room reflecting the theme or local history, and each has a fair sized stained glass window identifying the room, very nice touch!
Breakfast as noted many times here was super. If it is available, the suite is the way to go! it is more private as it is away from the hall so it is much quieter and larger. All of the regular rooms are nice with their own private bath room, except one.
When making our reservation, all three types (price range) were available, I discussed them with my wife and we selected the less expensive room because we were only going to stay the night, we were surprised when we checked in and found there was no bathroom in our room, you had to go down the hall to the community rest room to show and use the toilet. While the community rest room is very nice, I hated making the trip down the hall two or three times during our stay. When i discussed it the next day with the owner, she said the web-site did identify that room did not have a restroom in it, and I did return to the web-site and find where it was listed, but had to look for it. Sorry I cannot remember the name of the room, but it is the least expensive one listed. Still a nice room and we slept well, just beware of the rest room situation.
Having recently started staying in B & B's, breakfast in the morning with the other guests is part of the experience and it was great here, the owner knows the area well and made great recommendations on where to eat and tourist things to do for the others that stayed.
I am looking for an excuse to go south again so I have a chance to stay here again, only regrets two from our first stay; not seeing I was reserving the ONLY guest room that did not have a private bath room, and the biggest mistake, only being able to stay one night. If you are in this area, dont make a mistake staying somewhere else, reservea a room here and enjoy!
