What a great way to escape the heat of the day for a while. This tour gave me a real appreciation for early miners in Bisbee. Our guides were both actually formerly miners and had a lot of great information about what we were seeing. My only reservations about this were that our guide was a bit quiet and hard to understand at times and some of the other visitors on the tour were incredibly loud (particularly bad in a cave) :) But, even so, I would absolutely do it again.

This is a very authentic experience as it was a REAL mine and you are outfitted in safety equipment before you enter including a brass numbered tag you sign for. You also ride the same tram into the mine that the miners would have rode. Once in the mine you make a number of stops where you get off and walk to areas to see and get a very good explanation of mining by very knowledgeable ex-miners with a bit of humour thrown in. Bisbee and the mine tour are a must do if your in the area.

My 16 year old nephew and I were in the Tombstone area for spring break and this mine tour was definitely one of our favorite experiences of the trip. Our tour guide is a former mine worker so he is quite knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. It was a fun experience to be suited up with a hard hat, leather belt and flashlight and to be 1,500 feet down in the mine was just a great experience. Wear comfortable shoes and a light jacket as it's about 47 degrees down in the mine. If you are in Bisbee, this mine tour is a must!

We took both our adult sons and our 13 year-old grandson on this tour. They found it exciting and enjoyed riding the train down into the mine. The guide was retired from working the mine and was very knowledgeable..I would highly recommend it.

While the mine was interesting and the tour guide was knowledgeable, I found the size of the group a bit off putting. The mine tunnels are naturally narrow and the group was too large for everyone to see/hear the guide as he described the tools used. We felt a bit rushed as well and our tour lasted just a bit under an hour. That may have been because there were few questions from the group. That said, I was fascinated to get a glimpse of the mining experience, especially in the early days. I enjoyed the humorous stories of the mule and the tricks the miners played on one another. It was also fun to be rigged out with vests, hard hats, and lights - the latter two rather necessary to be safe and to be able to see in the mine.
