We were enticed by the swell decor of Santiago's. The place wasn't crowded so that was another enticement; maybe it should have been a hint. The wait staff was efficient, the food was served hot and attractively, but . . . we looked long and hard to find enough fish in the fish tacos to warrant the price. I got chili rellenos; they were the worst I've ever eaten and I live in Michigan which is no mecca for southwest cuisine.
While the place has potential, the food needs to be reconsidered. For what we were paying, it wasn't what we expected. Don't get me wrong; I am not a fan of oversized portions of food. But I do like quality when I'm paying quality prices. I don't feel I got it nor did the rest of the group. If Santiago's owners want to get more than one stop tourists into this lovely restaurant, they need to do some reconsideration.
