Campground is not kept up, full of weeds, unfinished projects, small space, hard to get into, sign posts laying on angles, dirty bathrooms. The hosts are great and try very hard to make stay pleasant, but after staying here for 6 years with hopes of things getting better and only GETTING WORSE will not stay here again.

We are staying in the Black Canyon City area, at Black Canyon Ranch RV. Out of curiosity we drove to the KOA to compare. NO comparison! We were very surprised to see a KOA campground looking so bad. The pool was covered with an old blue tarp and looked filthy, the grounds were not kept up. If you want to satay in this area I would HIGHLY recommend Black Canyon Ranch RV down the street, it is the highlight of this area for sure!

BAD BAD BAD. Let's start with the bathrooms, They have not been cleaned in sometime the smell was bad real bad, Dead bugs everywhere on the floor. I honestly would use a porta-John that has been cooking in the Arizona Sun. The entire campground is beyond repair. The pool is nasty dirty and overgrown with weeds. The pool faces the back of the camp office and store but you can't use rear doors to store or pool bathrooms junk piled up blocking doors. The Hot tub cover is made from palm leaves that have blown away. I have never seen a KOA in this kind of condition.

On a long RV trip with my family, we found ourselves in this neck of Arizona late in the day. This was the only campsite that answered their phone, so we pulled in.

KOA sites are like the McDonald's of RV sites...they look pretty much the same. The grounds were attractive and the main shop/office set up in the usual fashion. The woman there was helpful. Their fee structure is stiff and they charge extra for each person in the RV (if you are foolishly honest like I was.)

The hookups were straightforward. The on-site shower and bathroom were better than described by other reviewers here, though they were pretty cold with no effective heater.

There were other RV parks in the area which I will seek out if I'm passing through here again.

First, the good. The lady in the store was very friendly and sweet. The grounds were pretty well kept up. The cacti at each campsite was a nice touch. But there were many, many things that were far from pleasant. The bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months and smelled almost as bad as pit toilets. The playground was incomplete disrepair and "closed", which is what the owner barked at my kids when they tried to explore it. The store was out of sugar, cups, and many other staple items. Cable didn't include nickleodian, even though it was listed as such. There was also no fire pits, which really surprised me. I would not return to this KOA.

If you need to stop between Phoenix and the GrandCanyon, and can't make it to Flagstaff, this is a good place. The staff is sometimes not in the office, but they are not very far, just go around back and give a shout. I have a bad leg and they fired up the whirlpool for me, special. No frills, and not a lot to do on site, but quiet and reasonably clean, clean small pool and whirlpool, very very good BBQ place "Kid Chileens" nearby. Good stop for a night. Pet goats roaming about the premesis, friendly to kids and a nice unusual sight in the morning!

We were on our first day of traveling and needed a place to stop. It is a KOA- how bad could it be? Well, we found out. First, it was Memorial Day weekend. We arrived at 7pm and left at 9 am. The office was never open and we never saw anyone from the management. Our tent pad was filled with rabbit droppings. The bathrooms were clean enough but have seen much better days. Finally, the edges of the property were filled with trash and scrap metal. We've camped everywhere and would *never* come here again. KOA needs to drop this dump from its franchise.
