“This campground exceeds our expectations”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

A desert campground! I was not excited -- that is until I saw the saguaro and the campsites....We arrived on a Friday of a holiday weekend... no sites were available for three nights, but the campground hosts worked hard to find us a workable solution .. we had to change sites three times, but we had camp host help all the way. A full campground... and yet there were sites where only one or two other rigs were visible. Clean restrooms and showers (not the pay kind) are close to almost every site. Paved and level sites with water and electric conveniently located... As each rig left, the hosts immediately came and raked the ground around the table and fire ring. A lot of desert vegetation and lots of quail! We came for one night and stayed for five....

Not the greatest horse back ride, my wife's horse ran away with her on it, very scary for all of us! The trail was so worn, that we were 3' below the ground,

“Beautiful authentic rugged clean- huge park!”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

Quiet and park goers are very respectful. Variety of birds- sparrows, eagles, falcons, quail. Hikers, mountain bike riders, horseback riders all appreciate the variety of trails present. An out of the way park that is well worth the effort finding and packing a picnic to enjoy the views- huge majestic Saguaros too! The best of living in Arizona- just don't go when its hot!!! Take water ANY time you go- not sure if water fountains and bathrooms present. Check online and if there is a new visitor center with shade ramadas...

“Visit This Gem”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

The town of Cave Creek was founded by people who truly love the desert, and because many of them used to be real estate moguls, they're extremely canny about preserving what they love. One of their greatest accomplishments is the Cave Creek Regional Park, a lovely preserve that was destined to be another ticky-tacky development until the citizens of Cave Creek intervened. Now it has a nifty visitor's center and several beautiful trails where you can hike or go horseback riding while enjoying gorgeous views. We took a trail that looped around Vulture Mountain and back again, a hike of about an hour-an-a-half. This is a delightful way to spend the day.

“A local attraction that I frequently enjoy”
Reviewed 31 July 2013

Cave Creek Regional Park has many attractions for all kinds of individuals. They have organized hikes and other self guided hikes are good because the trails are well-marked. There are old mines in the area as well as wildlife and birding is quite good here. There is camping available with modern hookups available. Being local I have never used the campsites but have walked through this area birding and the sites are quite nice. There is a visitors center that is fairly new and they host many informational programs including night walks and presentations. The entry fee is reasonable and a yearly entry fee is available for local residents as well. The length of visit depens upon your interest. Hiking of most sorts will take 2 hrs at least and birding will take 3 hrs to cover most of the good areas. There are horses available for rent inside the park during the months of Oct. to May.
