We booked an King Bed Junior Suite and we were very pleased with the size and layout of the room. However, the first night, we were frequently awakened by the sounds of the elevator shaft next door, the Staff door opening and closing, and some other "grinding" noise that seemed to shake the room (possibly air chillers on the rooftop?). When I went to the Front Desk in the morning, I asked about the possibility of another room because of the noise. The two young women at the desk (Christine and Jennifer) were very attentive and genuinely interested in helping us find a more suitable room.
When we came back from breakfast, they had a plan. The hotel was nearly full, but they would move us to an Executive Level king bed for one night, then to a Balcony King for the rest of our stay (total of 5 nights). While we were out hiking, they moved all of our things both days (bags, bouquets of flowers, refrigerated food, etc.) They even sent a complimentary snack tray from room service to "apologize" for all of our inconvenience. Since when is a large-chain hotel this interested in customer satisfaction?
Across the road is a large mall (Chandler Fiesta) with a Nordstrom and other stores. The hotel shuttle will take you and pick you up. The breakfast in the Executive Lounge has fewer offerings than other Hiltons we visit, but the quality of the food is superior. The pool is very pleasant and never crowded. A friendly woman will bring you a drink if you wish. You can drive most anywhere in the Valley of the Sun in under 30 minutes (barring heavy traffic) by hopping on Price Freeway (101) or the Santan Freeway (202), both within view (and earshot) of the hotel.
Although I grew up in Mesa (the next town north of Chandler), I wouldn't consider staying there now. Chandler has everything you need and the Hilton has all the right staff for a perfect stay in the desert.
