Had dinner at Chompie's in Chandler tonight. What a great comfort food meal. Had the half sandwich & cup of soup meal for around $10.50. Yes, if you want a really good sandwich you have to pay a little more. Had the matzaball soup and the ruben. Corned beef was the most tender I've ever had. Soup was great too. Hard to find this type of food around the metro Detroit area. Staff was friendly and the decor was very nice also.
The menu at this place is HUGE. Many great looking choices to choose from. Rubens, blintz,s, perogi's, a slider made from brisket, etc, etc, etc ....
Then to top it off they have a great pastrey take out deli. I tried three rugulach's (never had them before) - one each of rasberry, cinn, & choc. YUM !!

Great breads, bagels and pastries. Service terrific. Portions are quite large. Always bringing around samples of various items. When we were here last week sampled new item, cross between a crossaint and a bagel. Was lighter than bagel but very good. Great breakfast place. Very busy and often have a short wait but well worth it!

My wife and I have eaten here twice in the last month. Once just for bagels, which were different from the past. Light, airy and not the chewy goodness of past years. The second time was more disappointing. The restaurant has slipped a bit into disrepair and was not clean. The lady's restroom was very dirty. The bagels were, once again, very light and flavorless. The cob salad I ordered was full of iceberg lettuce with fewer other ingredients than expected and everything in the salad was a bit ragged and appeared old.
Chompie's used to be our go to deli, but something has changed. The decor has become worn, the tables are slow to be cleaned, the carpet looks dirty and the bagels are not what they once were.

A bit expensive, but if you miss that kind of food, worth it. The pastries are quite tempting. Take your time and soak in the atmosphere.
