I discovered this place from a sign they had next to the road. I was actually following my GPS to another Thai place when I saw the sign and decided to give it a try. That turned out to be a great decision.

The atmosphere is a little more cafe style than most Thai places that I have been to, but it was style very stylish and pleasant. It was surprisingly busy for a new place, but that didn't slow the servers down any at all. The service was prompt, friendly and what you would expect from a locally owned establishment. The tables are a little packed tight in spots, but it is not too overbearing.

The food is fresh and excellently prepared. It was perfect temperature and very neat in the presentation. I would guess that they are catering to a more Americanized clientele as there "Thai hot" dishes were nowhere near as spicy as other Thai places. So if you are looking for light you on fire flavor, this probably isn't your place, but if you are looking for good food and flavor, then this is it.

I would recommend that anyone in the area give it a try and see for yourself. I think this place has a bright future.

Pros

I've been meaning to check out this place and tried on a Saturday with out-of-town friends who were craving Thai for lunch, only to discover they are closed for lunch on the weekend. Slightly deterred, I went back there for a week night dinner with my husband and daughter. The atmosphere is modern and relaxed and they have a wide selection of items to choose from. I tried a speciality drink called an Asian Sidecar (I think) that combined vodka with sake and fruit. I enjoyed every drop. We all split the crab cream cheese roll appetizer. There are five rolls with a spicy mayo dipping sauce that were quite delectable with nice chunks of crab. Our three dishes were red and green curries and the Spice of Life (chicken and shrimp with nuts and veggies in a chili paste. I requested medium spicy because I didn't know how serious they are about spicing it up. My husband went ahead and ordered spicy. Evidently, the restaurant caters to American taste buds because we didn't find the seasonings hot at all. However, all the flavors, particularly in the curries were excellent and deliciously complex. Servings were generous -- we had several helpings and still had to request a take-home box. Bottom line: great neighborhood Thai where you can take friends and family.

Thailicious is a great choice if you're looking for quality, fresh Thai food.

Went with the Penang Curry, Papaya Salad, Chicken Satay, and Pork Larb.

Penang Curry was fantastic with a good mix of chicken and vegetables. A subtle spice but smooth and dynamic.

Papaya Salad was also good. Can order different levels of spiciness and I found that the "Thai hot" choice was about equal to what you can expect in Thailand, so be careful with that one.

Chicken Satay was excellent, peanut sauce was perfect.

Pork larb also above average.

Nice ambiance in the restaurant, pretty quiet and nicely lit.

Service wasn't the best. Definitely waited a little longer than I'd prefer to get water refills (crucial in a Thai restaurant when your mouth is on fire) or attention to the bill, but it wasn't terrible and everyone was friendly.

Check it out, worth a trip.

Thailicious recently opened up in my neighborhood, in a space where a few other restaurants have met with fair to poor success. The owners smartly cut down the size of the restaurant, though it is still large enough to serve a good crowd. The decor was far more American than Thai, though there is a tuk-tuk (Thai taxi) painted on one of the walls.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon, and the restaurant was not busy - a few filled tables, with a few more parties arriving during our meal. I am not sure if the lack of business was due to the time (4 pm) or the fact that the restaurant was so new.

We were greeted and seated promptly and the staff was attentive to our partty of three, taking drink orders quickly and suggesting appetizers.

The menu is fairly broad, with most dishes offering a choice of meats, fish, shrimp or vegetables. When we ordered, we were asked how spicy we wanted our food to be. Our cowardly diner chose "no heat", my daughter chose "low heat" and I chose "hot". They also offer "medium" and "Thai hot".

I had only two minor complaints - the meals were brought out as they were prepared, which meant that our waitress had to make three separate trips to the table. Also, my daughter's entree was drowning in spicy tomato sauce, with no way to easily rescue the meat and noodles from too much sauce.

That said, the flavors were excellent and the prices comparable to other Thai restaurants in the area.

We all enjoyed the food, and will return.
