“Wonderful romantic weekend”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

I had been to Cottonwood on a handful of occasions but I had never stayed there. With all the wineries and restaurants in Old Town, I wanted a quiet, quaint place to stay while being able to enjoy without driving. This was a home run weekend! Karen was so fun and accommodating...she explained some of the history of Cottonwood and the hotel... We stayed in the Mae West suite and had just the best and most restful time. We walked to wine tasting and shopping and meals and just soaked up the ambience of Old Town...

We will definitely be back! Thank you Karen

From the Cottonwood Hotel you can walk to the largest section of the Verde Valley Wine Trail tasting rooms, tavern, bars, saloon, distillery, and more all within a block and a half either way, a couple of doors down or just across the street. Once called the 'Biggest Little Town in the State of Arizona' during prohibition, there is definitely no shortage today of where to get a drink! And something to eat, as this section of town also has the most popular restaurants in the whole Verde Valley, right here in Old Town Cottonwood! Park your car and spend the night or two.

Our stay was quite enjoyable. Karen who owns and operates the hotel shared a great amount of knowledge regarding the shops in the area. Her recommendations to my husband and I were spot on. The room was cozy, cool, and comfortable. She made sure to tell us she uses all natural hypoallergenic products. The bed was a little hard for my taste but after a day of walking the historic district and taking a train ride it was a welcome sight.

Happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for taking the time to write us a nice review. I was sorry to hear that our new mattress in studio suite #7 (the Grande Hotel Collection Posture Support 11-inch Queen-size Trizone Memory Foam Mattress) was too hard for you, as most guests love them and even want to know where I've purchased them. We surely hope that we will see you again during your next visit to Cottonwood.

My wife and I stayed here over the 4th of July weekend and had an amazing experience. This hotel is right in the middle of the downtown area and walking distance to 4 wineries and amazing restaurants.
Karen, the owner/operator was awesome at give us a good lay of the land upon our arrival. We stayed in the constellation room which was well equipped and very comfortable.
Highly recommend this hotel

I was happy to hear that our Sky-Watch Studio #1 was comforter and you enjoyed your stay. We try to go the extra measure with comfort and being hypo-allergenic, with our new Grande Hotel Supreme memory foam tri-zone mattress, organic bamboo bedding and products that we use. We look forward to your next visit to Cottonwood. Thank you for taking the time to write us a nice review.

We stayed in the Wine Room and were delighted at the spaciousness of the room and the decor. Karen greeted us warmly, gave us an insight on some areas to visit, eat, drink, directions and a little history. This is one of the cleanest and most quiet hotels we've ever stayed at. We are definitely returning and recommend this historic hotel to everyone.

Thank you for acknowledging the cleanliness of our rooms. We take pride in presentation. Our Deluxe Wine Room was originally (during the hotel's heyday) two separate small hotel rooms. The rooms were combined years ago to make for a roomier sized and more comfortable unit. Even though this is still our 2nd smallest room, it is a favorite with many return guests. I was happy to hear that it worked for you and we look forward to your next visit to the Cottonwood Hotel. Thank you for taking the time to write us a nice review!

This was a wonderful place right in the middle of historic Cottonwood-walk to everything. We stayed in the Mae West room. Great bedroom, little sitting area and a clawfoot tub! There is a balcony at the front of the hotel overlooking the town. Perfect place for your morning coffee
Karen told us all about the town and where to go. We will definitely go back

Room Tip: This is very small so I don't think there is a bad room

The Mae West deluxe room is always a favorite among guests, even when John Wayne romanced here back in 1946, as he always requested the room with the tub. Nothing like an original clawfoot tub, and one that the Duke actually soaked his tush in! Thanks for taking the time to write a great review! :)

We choose this hotel because of all the great reviews and we're not disappointed. Check in was easy. We ended up extending our stay one more night for a total of 3 nights. The first two nights we stayed in a room with two queen beds. The room was nice and bathroom was awesome. The only word of warning is to watch your shins! There is not a lot of room and the bed frames stick way out. My boyfriend and I each banged our shins (ouch!).
We had to switch rooms for the last night as our current room was booked. The awesome staff held our bags in the laundry area (we were on motorcycles and didn't want to load everything on the bike for the day). When we returned later that afternoon, they had moved everything into our new room for us! So very nice! This room had a king bed and had quite a bit more room (no shin banging)
We would stay here again in a heartbeat ! Friendly staff, beautiful rooms and a great location!

Thank you for taking the time to write a nice review, but I think this review was meant for someone else. At this time we do not have any rooms with two queen beds, and the only unit that we have two beds, has a king and queen in separate bedrooms, as it is our largest unit which is a 2 bedroom. 2 bathroom apartment (our innkeepers quarters) unit #6.

Perfect location to walk to all the shops and wine tasting rooms in downtown Cottonwood. There is a bar across the street, but we never heard any noise, even with the window open. We stayed in the "Wine" room. The room and common areas are restored and very clean. I also appreciated the interior decoration. Bed was super comfy and the room had everything we needed and more. Loved sitting on the common balcony area and watching the downtown activity and the sunset.

Room came with a kitchenette with mini-fridge, microwave, sink, dishes, pod coffee maker and plenty of coffee making supplies. The bathroom is tiny, very common for older buildings, but was fine for us. Modern plumbing and very clean. Modern TV with cable and plenty of channels.

The owner, Karen, was a delight - super friendly and helpful. Upon learning we were in town for wine tasting, she gave us a card for a free tasting at Pillsbury - just down the street. We also walked to Bocce's for dinner (yum!), Arizona Stronghold, and The Red Rooster (best breakfast!).

Room Tip: This is a historic hotel, which we enjoy for the unique ambience. Even though it has a narrow and so...

Great Location Indeed! We are the contributing historic hotel of places to stay listed in the Cottonwood Commercial Historic District. In the heart of the three blocks, Old Town Cottonwood has the largest section of the Verde Valley Wine Trail Tasting Rooms, the largest section of the Verde Valley Antique Stores, the most popular restaurants in the whole Verde Valley and borders a rare greenway riparian, the Verde River, with hiking trails, bird watching, horseback riding and much more!
