There isn't much to do in Cottonwood, but if you need to stay there or if you are looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay while visiting Sedona or Jerome, this is a wonderful place to stay. The signage to find the place is very well marked. It is quiet, clean, spacious and well maintained. A unique feature is the shelving near the sink which gives you a place to put your HBA's without trying to balance it on the sink's edge. Also, the room was provided with a microwave and a refrigerator large enough to hold everything you could possibly carry in your ice chest. The only downsides were the too soft bed and the A/C that didn't change temperatures no matter how we set it. Perhaps, the idea was to make us feel like we were in control of the temp, but really not. Luckily, the room stayed relatively comfortable.

Stayed here during BikeMS '14. Staff was friendly, room was super clean. They even let me store my bike inside. The pool was perfect to cool off after a long ride. Close to the main drag for restaurants (try Mai Thai on Main!) but far enough to not hear the traffic. Cottonwood is a great place to stay to explore the Sedona area but without Sedona prices. We'll be back next year!

Based on other tripadvisor reviews, I booked a room here, and had no regrets! I spoke to Martha and Cory at different times on the phone, and each time, they were courteous, helpful, and professional, and helped make our stay a good one. I asked for a quiet room, and that's what I got. This place is so well-tended, the larger chains could take a lesson in how to properly clean a room. Ours was immaculate, and very comfortable with a microwave oven and small fridge in room for convenience. My only complaint was that the bed was not the comfiest, but not any worse than most hotels.
They even have a resident dog in the office, which I was happy to see, having left our dog at home. For the price, you cannot beat this, and it really was a very pleasant stay. We will be back! Oh, and we forgot one of our pillows, and they called us right away and offered to ship it to us. Thanks for helping make our trip terrific!

We stayed here to go to Out of Africa. Reasonably priced, super super clean, and close to where we were going. Rooms were nothing fancy, but again, clean, bed was comfy, front desk was nice.
Would be a good place to stay if going to Sedona or the Verde Canyon Railroad as well.
The only thing that was meh was that we were on the bottom floor and the ppl staying above us were moving furniture or something. Not the hotels fault at all, but seriously, what the heck could they have been doing up there?

All in all great place to stay and we would go back in a heart beat!

Room Tip: I would ask for the top floor just in case you have ppl like we did staying above you.

My wife and I were going to Cottonwood to attend the Tilted Earth Wine Festival on June 21, summer solstice day. We need a place to stay and even though I was making the reservations a couple months out, all the "nice" places were already booked. Eventually I found the Pines Motel online and took a look at it. They have one "apartment" room that has a separate bedroom, a living room and a full kitchen. We like to have bigger rooms and this fit our needs.I was reluctant because it appeared to be an old motel. However, we needed a place to stay and so I took a chance and made the reservation. Online, the photos looked like the place was clean and had been recently remodeled. But, online photos can be deceiving. We arrived and checked in at the office. The guy on duty was very friendly, really nice guy. We got our key cards and went to the room. Although it was an old motel, the room was very clean, nicely appointed and had relatively new fixtures and appliances. We were delighted! This is not a five star resort but it was a great place to stay. The only problem we had was that we could hear EVERY foot step of the people in the unit above us. Despite that, we would certainly stay there again. And the price was WAY good! Thanks Pines Motel.

Room Tip: Get the apartment, there is only one.

Thank you for the review! Thank you for the compliment on the online photos! I take the pictures and want them to represent our motel. Every year we make upgrades and improve the value for our guests. The Pines was originally built in 1994 with the new additions of the mini suites and lobby area completed in 2007. Thank you for coming to stay with us and we will see you next time!

This was my second time staying at The Pines. This time we booked a mini-suite with kitchenette. It was perfect. I love the fact that they recycle almost everything! A very "green" business! Recycle bins are located on the outside and inside the rooms. Maid service also A+!

Thank you Trish! We don't normally have floats at the pool. They were shared by a previous guest and awesome you got to use them! See you next time!
