We loved the hotel and our room! We reserved a balcony room and it was great!! We sat there a good portion of the evening admiring the fantastic views! The guy who leads the ghost tour was on vacation so the front desk clerk let us use the "ghost meter" and walk around the hotel on our own! So we ventured off on our ghost hunt and I think we hit every possible area of the hotel looking for ghosts... We had no problems sleeping and amazed that it was so cool since there is no air in the rooms, just the hallway, and we closed the hatch which lets the cold air into the room. We would definitely go back and stay if in Jerome again! It is a little pricey but you pay for the ambiance! It is like staying in a museum!!

Room Tip: The balcony rooms have great views and provide extra sitting room!

We originally saw this hotel on Ghost Adventures on the travel channel. Being very interested in the paranormal and consequently also going to AZ to visit our daughter, we made reservations at this lovely place. We, of course, took a ghost tour, and got photos of lots of orbs. Some of the other guests were lucky enough to hear ghostly noises in their rooms, but unfortunately ours was quiet. But we do plan to return. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and wonderful menu. The staff were all friendly and they sold unique souvenirs in their shop. The most interesting thing, I thought, was the original elevator, which has never broken down since put in the hotel. It took us 30 seconds to reach our 3rd floor. It had the wire cage like dual doors and at night, when you took photos into the shaft, there were hundreds of orbs! Whether you like ghosts or not, this is a fine place to visit, and the town is full of interesting places and ghost stories!

Having experienced some paranormal encounters in my life, I was a bit leery to stay at the Grand. My husband had stayed on a previous occasion and not had a single issue. The hotel is lovely and very much a step back in time. I appreciated the attention to detail and clean inviting rooms. Being an antique collector myself, the decor and antique furniture offered a great feel for the era. The wouldn't recommend paying the extra for the 'valley-view' rooms (we had room 20)as we felt it was terribly noisy (construction below the hotel) and really didn't provide much by way of view. The rooms are pricey either way, so didn't really need the upgrade. The staff was attentive and polite, no complaints. They offer a breakfast bar in the morning with coffee/tea and bagels or pastries. As far as ghosts, if you have a sensitivity to being approached by a spirit, whether you're at this hotel or not - don't be afraid of an encounter. My husband slept soundly but I was a bit restless with anticipation of a possible visitation. I definately felt a presence in our room (sounds crazy but..) but not in a threatening sense. Mostly hot and cold currents that pass by or overhead. Nothing visual occured to me but I felt relaxed that whatever might become visual was not in anyway mean to scare me. It was really a great night. The whole area of Jerome is full of stories of ghosts and peoples encounters with them. Try the Haunted Hamburger for lunch, the owner is full of ghostly stories and his interactions. Jerome is a charming little town full of history and colorful figures from all walks of life. The wineries in Jerome are fun to try as well as several really good restaurants. Our favorites are the Haunted Hamburger for lunch and Grapes for dinner. The shops offer some unique gifts, my favorites are Nelly Bly, Raspberry, and Mooey Christmas & Udder Things. Next to the Christmas shoppe is a wonderful bakery.

Although a bit pricey, the Jerome Grand Hotel is a walk back in time. Originally built as a hospital serving a busy mining town, it's latest incarnation is a clean, comfortable and spacious hotel situated on the highest point of this picturesque, now bustling little tourist town. The furniture is old and well-worn, but the beds are comfy. The ancient elevator is creaky (but must be experienced), and the halls are creepy, especially if you buy into the hype of the hotel being haunted by some of the unfortunate patients who ended their days in the old hospital. The nightly haunted tour gives all the wonderful details which will most certainly send chills up the back of your neck.

The grand vista across the vast and glorious valley as seen from the hotel is worth the experience alone, and if you are in Jerome, it is not to be missed.

Room Tip: Spend the extra and go for the rooms wit h the view.

We had room #30. First, let me say, I appreciate the step back in time....the room was really actually delightful. The balcony provided an insanely amazing view and to find out the 3rd floor was a psych ward, makes my awe of the room appropriate. The elevator was quite fun and the hallways lined with medical antiques paved the way for an obvious anticipation of ghost hunting. There is definitely an odd feeling and we experienced some things that were certainly questionable including us talking about how funny the old fashioned phone has no rotary dial on it, and within a seconds of that statement, while still staring at it, the phone gave a half ring. We didn't dare answer it and it never rang again. If you are expecting the ritz, then you shouldn't have gone to Jerome to begin with. Be open minded, take a step back in time and enjoy the view and take it the history of such an amazing place. Be sure to visit the restaurant. Mikey and Jesse were fun and made our time full of good laughter and the food was enjoyable. Next time we hope to stay more than one night as we found ourselves truly enjoying our stay, and next time hope to do the ghost tour. Our thanks go out to Dave at The Arizona Wine and Beer Tasting in Sedona for making sure we asked for Mikey and Jesse.

Us Golden Girls spent the night in the Grand Hotel. Our room as spacious, clean, and close to the shopping and eating places. We were able to walk all over Jerome from the hotel. The front desk was kind and helpful. The view was wondeful and were able to open the windows to get fresh air in the room.

Room Tip: Male sure you aks for a room on the view side.

We had room 34. It has the biggest balcony, but they all the balcony rooms are large. The views are breath taking. This is not the Ritz, but clean and comfortable. The restaurant is top shelf yet some what pricey. We dine out frequently and felt worth the money. Duck and sea bass our favorite.

Room Tip: 34 or any balcony room.
