Owner description: The Douglas Mansion has been an eye-catching landmark in Jerome since 1916, when James S. Douglas built it on the hill just above his Little Daisy Mine. This former home is now a museum devoted to the history of the Jerome area and the Douglas family. The museum features photographs, artifacts and minerals in addition to a video presentation and a 3-D model of the town with its underground mines. There are more displays outside along with a picnic area offering a beautiful panoramic view of the Verde Valley.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Bathroom facilities

Every trip to the town of Jerome is interesting. It is an interesting, historic and funky little town full of winding streets and interesting shops and eating establishments. In the middle of this is Jerome State Historical Park, It is an interesting museum full of interesting facts about Jerome and the mining industry that made it famous. It is a great place to spend a few hours learning about the history of this quaint little town, Jerome. The introductory film is very interesting and much better than the previous one, the narrator is much more effective. Then
touring the museum is fun and fact filled and the vistas of the surrounding are magnificent. The park employees were very helpful with directions to various other attractions and eating establishments and things you might have missed in the park. Make the most of your trip, visit the historical park and then park your car and walk the streets of Jerome. It is an informative and fun day out.

On the side of a mountain there are lots of shops and homes. At the museum you get to see the life style of the miners and all the equipment they used.

We visited the museum, which was once the Douglas mansion, and it was excellent. I highly recommend this to any history lovers visiting Jerome. Very well laid out, and the staff was extremely friendly. Love this place!

We went to the town of Jerome and went through the shops and restaurants and only had a few hours. That is what I regret. I would have LOVED to have stayed an entire day. If you have a day or more to spend at Jerome, check it out - it is terrific. VERY cool shops, art, and restaurants. I wanted to see the Grand Hotel but we didn't have time.

I think I am putting Jerome on my bucket list! A visit to the little town for a weekend away. You just have to see the view from this mountain/mining town of 500 people host over a million tourists a year. It's terrific!
