My daughter and I were staying at the Grand Hotel and doing the Ghost Tour at 6 pm. We had intended to eat dinner after the tour but changed out minds and walked into the restaurant a little past 5 pm. We didn't want to overeat so decided to share the Chilean Sea Bass. We began our dinner with a wild berry sundae of raspberries and vanilla ice cream, which was to die for. We each ordered the 1st course, I had the squash soup (supurb) and daughter a nice big salad. The wait staff knew we were on a time frame and went out of the way to be sure we were fed on time. They were very attentive but not obnoxious about it at all. The foods presentation was very nice and had wonderful flavors. We were charged a second plate fee but it was worth it as the only shared portion of the meal was the fish. We each had bread, soup or salad and all the vegies and potatoes as normal. Our check was delivered promptly. We got to the tour on time and returned to the Asylum at 8:30 for several tasty cocktails. We will go back there no problem.

Nice ambiance, but menu was over-priced and lunch menu not too good. Service is good too. They need to have more items on the menu and work on the price.

I have eaten lunch here three times. The big draw for me is the view. I always sit on the porch so I can look out over the valley. It's quieter than eating downtown where there are more tourists. The food has always been excellent. The driveway to the hotel and restaurant is a little out of the way and hard to find (Don't use your GPS), but worth hunting for.

The Asylum Restaurant had great ambiance and is in a beautiful, historic building. The atmosphere was great. The servers were very attentive and personable. However, the food was just alright. I certainly expected more of the cuisine. We also had called ahead to see of we needed to make a reservation and we were told that is would be a good idea, that they were usually full. When we arrived a 1:00 there were many tables to be had and we were placed at an ok table, but one with no view-not outside or near a window. People who just walked in were given lovely tables outside or near a window with great views. It was a little disappointing that we took the trouble to make a reservation and were seated where we were. I was truly expecting more. I give it an average rating because of the lovely historic building and the great servers-food could be improved and those with reservations should be able to sit at a table of their choice if establishment is not full.
