“I could get used to this :)”
Reviewed 31 May 2013

This is not the first time that we have stayed at Inkwenkwezi and it certainly will not be last! I'll be brief and to the point so as not to bore you :)

Accommodation is private (totally) and in a luxury tent. The balcony is a place to sit, relax and just breathe. The bathroom is well appointed and I adored the glass shower which let's you look outside whilst you freshen-up. The deep bath just called for bubbles and bubbly ;-)

Slept like a baby even though the night was chilly - the air conditioning and electric blanket is a superb touch. Coffee and tea making facilities in the room start the day off well. There is a mini bar stocked with soft drinks and beers should you wish to do more than just breathe on your own private balcony :)

As each room is situated away from the main building you are assigned a guide who will take care of your transport and needs. The guide we had was incredibly knowledgeable regarding the fauna and flora of the area and I'd like to give Luke a huge thumbs-up for his humour too. All guides and, in fact, all staff are friendly and go out of their way to ensure a brilliant stay.

The food was fabulous even for a vegetarian like me and the lapa is a superb place to relax, enjoy some fruit of the vine and chat to fellow travellers about your day.

The pricing is true value for money and, being in a malaria free area, perfect for those who do not wish to take medication.

Would I recommend it to my friends and family .... YES! Would I like to spend more time at Inkwenkwezi .... YES and would live or work there at the drop of a hat. For those who wish to see Africa's cats up close and personal including stroking cheetah - put this on your bucket list. NB .... take your camera and a light heart - you'll be surprised at what you see and how it makes you feel.

Room Tip: All tents are private with amazing views and silence (bar for the birds during the day and the owls...

One of the highlights of our trip through South Africa. We had one if the tents in the valley camp. It had all the romance of a tent in the jungle but with a comfy bed, shower and stocked minibar (included in price) on the inside.

From the bumpy but awesome 4x4 drive from the reception to the tents, to the game drives in the park (awesome lion area - try to be there around feeding time), and the meals in the 'private' camp dining rooms (all in the jungle) - this was truly am experience.

You get your own ranger assigned who takes you around the camp and guides the activities. We had Roger, who did a great job and made the trip both fun and informative.

Being back in SA I decided to show my husband best parts of the country - and one of them is Inkwenkwezi. You just can't get enough of this place. Everyone there makes you feel really welcome. This time we overnighted at Valley Camp that was comfortable, spacy and very well equipped.
Food was great again!
Special thanks to Byron as always :-)

I really wasn't sure what to expect when this part of the trip was booked. From what I gathered, I was only staying for one night and thought it would end up costing the same as the rest of my 10 days in South Africa! I was very wrong however. When you book your accommodation you get allocated a guide, who may be looking after another 4-8 guests and will take you on a variety of trips and excursions around the game reserve. All included in the accommodation price. This made the stay great value for money and great fun too. We stayed on a Sunday, so when we arrived we were shown straight into a large buffet style restaurant by the main reception and ate some wonderfully prepared food. After this, we were shown to our room and couldn’t quite believe where we would be spending that evening. It was essentially a large tent in the middle of the jungle about 25 minutes from the main reception on a very bumpy road! The room had a raised decking area to look out over the forestry, and was well stocked with beers, wines, soft drinks, tea, coffee and water. The bathroom is equally as impressive as the glass from the shower looks out over the forestry again so it’s as if you’re bathing out in the wild! (Each tent is a distance from each other so aside from the odd monkey, your privacy is very secure). We were picked up about 2 hours later and taken on a sunset safari, which was absolutely incredible. Some of the wildlife we saw included giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, ostrich and even a rhino! We even saw some lions which was one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever done. But don’t worry, you’re very safe and we were in very good hands with Robert, the game guide. After the safari, we were taken to eat at a different place and had more great food and a few drinks, then back to the tent to sleep. Despite the monkeys, bats flying into the side of the tent, late night bird calls, frogs and crickets, I had a very nice sleep on one of the comfiest beds I’ve slept on. The following morning we were picked up and taken for breakfast, then went off to do some canoeing. It was a very warm morning and the river was so peaceful. I would highly recommend this activity if you can do it. We were then taken back to our room to pack and went back to the main reception to check out. There was still time to meet some Cheetahs, who were more interested in sleeping than seeing us, but it was the middle of the day and they are cats after all. And also time to meet and feed some very playful elephants. All in all, Inkwenkwezi was an absolute highlight of trip to South Africa and I cannot wait to go back again on my next visit there!

Room Tip: You don't so much get a choice of room, but a choice of camp to stay. We actually booked to stay...

Years ago, we spent several nights in the bush tents, which was phenomenal and benchmark setting. This time round we went for a day visit, for lunch and hopefully to interact with the Elephants. Out of this world , One on one. This is what makes Inkwenkwezi Top of the catagory. The interaction was arranged, after a five star lunch. Non scheduled. Just an enquiry if such were possible. No problem , seems to be their motto. 30 minutes later our party was on a private non scheduled excursion to the Elephants.Much appreciated, extremely informative. The Reserve is close to East London.30 minute car drive. A must experience in your lifetime . Because of it's relative small size, the reserve focuses on the welbeing of each guest. Tuned to a fine art, of privacy, yet being there, should a guest require attention.
Well done. Yes, we shall return often. It is a popular wedding venue, being so close to East London..

Go to Inkwenkwezi , stay a few days, relax, you shall be missing out on something very special, if you do not go at least once in your life.

You shall want to return again.

Unfortunately due to time constraints we only stayed for a short visit and had we known we would have such an amazing time we would have stayed longer and we will definately he back . The experiences included in the night of your stay are remarkable ...playing with elephants and cheetah's and going into a lion enclosure. The staff are friendly and nothing is to much to ask , the are very knowledgable and anything they don't know they are happy to find out for you. The food is definately 5 star and so much of it and the rooms ....well the rooms are luxiourous while still being at one with nature. Highly recommend !!

We stayed here on our last night following 5 days of trekking along the beach. We arrived expecting to be shown to our rooms but instead were driven about 30mins to the most stunning private luxury tents in the bush. The views were stunning...even from the bathrooms which are all open to the bush. We even had a Knysna Loerie come close to sneak a peak at us. Food served was great, staff were friendly and knowledgable. Highlight was the game drive and getting to see the white and tawny lions up close and personal!
