In a good position overlooking the sea. Hotel looks good inside but rooms are not up to standard. The aircon does not work, TV service is poor with old style TVs and poor channel options. Rooms look like they were last touche dup in the 1970's. Breakfast was good.

I stayed at the premier Hotel Regent for a weekend,I requested an early check in as I was arriving at 06hrs on the morning of the 12/04/14,when I arrived the receptionist on duty(Siya) was already expecting me,I went up to my room which was allocated on the 3rd floor, the view of the Indian Ocean was just fantastic, since I was there for a wedding I changed and got ready I then left the Hotel around Midday,on my return in the evening my room was neatly done, the folowing day I went for breakfast, service and food was fantastic and yes when I got back from breakfast, the room was clean and fresh, its like they are watching your every moove from the moment you walk in the hotel, you are greeted with a smile,I know in most hotels you can not iron for ur self, they have a room on the hotels 4th floor with irons and ironing boards, that was a time saver as I did not have to wait for my clothes to be collected and be brought back and not having to panic that they might be bunt by the chamber maids,I left the hotel at 13hrs on the 14th/04/14 they had no problems with giving a late check out as the check out time is 10:30

Thank you Premier Hotel Management and your team, you do know how to lookk after your guest

The ambitions of this hotel are to be business hotel, but the quality and service level is not above 1 star. Room was tiny (as was the bathroom), without view or much light, a very loud airco, and a television system dating back to early 2000s, with poor reception and few channels. The room did not have a refrigerator, the safe was broken, and the carpet and upholstery of the furniture were dirty and stained. Check-in procedures are amateuristic with long waiting times. Credit cards are validated by making a pencil imprint on an ordinary piece of paper. In my case I was subsequently refused credit three times at the restaurant. I had to report to reception myself each time to correct this. It was a denigrating and extremely unwelcoming experience. The wifi service is terrible (only worked in very small part of reception area and restaurant), so doing business was impossible. Even the simplest B&B in SA does better on all counts. Did not work for any of the reasons I chose it for, and was hence overpriced. Complaints were met with a lame sorry and offer of voucher for one free night at Premier. If I would ever return. Overall advice: do not go there!

Room Tip: Do not go there. More expensive rooms have balcony and view of the sea, but still have all the other...

The hotel is conveniently located close to town on the esplanade? All staff are very friendly and welcoming. Efficient check in and meal service. Supper and breakfast were very good and represent fair value for money. My credit card was not swiped at check in, so I had to endure frequent interrogation from concerned staff who thought that I may be living under the illusion that all meals and drinks are free.

The hotel seems to mainly cater for visiting government officials.

The room with sea view balcony was very nice. Good bed and clean bedding. However a few maintenance issues included very grubby carpets, and lamps ready to fall from the precarious wall mountings. The TV is quite small.

The shower is an over bath variety with a short curtain. The plentiful towels were put into service in damming the resultant floods from a

I stayed here during a conference and wasn't disappointed. The employees were hospitable upon check-out but check-in was a little different as I think they were a little overwhelmed with the masses of people standing in front of them - I don't blame them! The food was delicious and the restaurant staff friendly. I do feel the staff do need some hospitality training if the hotel wants to charge high prices - they're not bad but there is room for improvement and a better understanding of the systems. There's definitively something extra missing from this hotel and there's definite room for improvement for the price you pay.

Room Tip: Request a room with an ocean view

I stayed in this hotel in September, its a great hotel with some really great and willing staff.

Unfortunately, I think the management does not invest in people training as well as one would expect of a hotel charging top (international) Dollar for its rooms.

So as you are all clear, the staff are, willing, very friendly, very obliging, but it is eveident that they alck experienec and training.

This is the only downside to this hotel, it the very eveident lacking of detailed training and experience and this is reflected by the lack of attention to detail that would would expect from a hotel charging such high prices.

That said all the staff ALL including the management will bend over backwards to help you sort out these inconvenieces.

The problem is that these are small things but they are irritating and a little bit of training would make all the difference.

The hotel itself, is of a good standard, hich quality fitments, always very clean, (thats one thing they did get right), housekeeping was very good indeed.

The rooms, very good appointment but to be blunt over priced in comparison to what one would expect in a similar hotel in a similar location.

The majority of rooms have great seviews, and in the morning, the sunrises are spectacular.

Another downside, the hotel bar, without doubt the world's most expensive coke cola, unbelievebly priced!!! also they don't do snacks!!!!

So I went round the corner of the complex to the "Y" not bar, proper pub, nice people, good beer sensible prices and you can get snacks.

The only bar in the world where you can't get peanuts or chips!!! - Bad very BADThe bar man however, Diamond Geezer!!! Top Man - knows his drinks, great fellow, very attentive.

Antother dissappointment, Whisky selection, pretty poor, very small selection for a four/five star hotel -You Need to sort this out.

Food - very good, one hell of a breakfast selection, fantastic range of food, all freshly cooked, great views from the restaurant, great place for breakfast.

Evening meals, well when I was there they had a buffet service - one night we had roast lamb - it was super perfect, the best I had had in a long time, superb - well done.

Drinks, well one of the young girls suggested a particular 'house red', not something I would readily pick, however, top recomendation.

All restaurant staff were great, lacking a little in experience, but more than making up for it with their charm and attentiveness.

So if they have a buffet on, go for it, superb value for money.

Gym and swimming pool OK enough for what you need on a short stay, they have a bit of a 'Spa' seemed OK to me, but it was 'New York Prices' so I did not bother!!!

Downside, Ironing, what a crack up,I like to iron my own shirts and trousers when in a hotel, it only takes a couple of minutes to give them a little iron, not in this hotel, you have more or less got to walk to Cape Town, to get to the ironing room.

THis I found was the most annoying thing of all, it is not too hard or too expensive to put ironing boards and irons in rooms, or at least have a service that will bring such to your rooms, but at this hotel a real nightmare to get anything ironed.

For a four star hotel, this was a big let down and a real nuisance for business travellers, something that the hotel must put right.

Check in staff - brilliant.

General Manager, Marieta, brilliant, just needs to get a few small things attended to and this hotel could be a great hotel, you have the staff.

I will be going back again, and I will recemmend anyone staying in EAST LONDON, to stop at this hotel, but haggle on the price, i think its a bit dear for what you get.

Bottom line, you will have a good stay, the people are great, this just need to up their game a little.

Room Tip: Haggle on the price of the room, or get an upgrade, if they have a buffet meal on great value try it...
