A return visit confirms that secluded Bitou River Lodge is a very special place, richly deserving of all the accolades it receives. The rooms - light, airy and the most fully-equipped we have ever come across in terms of power point adaptors, hair driers etc - all look out over lawns sweeping down to the river just a few yards away from each very private patio. The abundant birdlife, encouraged by keen ornithologist Sue, is endlessly entertaining. And if you want to immerse yourself even more deeply into the beautifully tranquil surroundings you are more than welcome at any time to borrow one of the canoes that are provided for those who fancy paddling through the reeds and water lilies to observe the local wildlife at close quarters. Add in Sue's sumptuous breakfast spreads, the wonderfully relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the peaceful country location that is nevertheless perfectly placed for all the best attractions of the Plettenberg Bay area and what you get is one of the most enjoyable B&B experiences to be had anywhere in the world.
