“The best of Plett”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2014

My wife, teenage daughter and I stayed for 8 nights and were warmly welcomed by Linda, Ole, Inocent and the rest of the team. Guest rooms and bathrooms are spacious, very well appointed and fresh and clean. The views over Lookout beach and the lagoon are spectacular. We enjoyed the spill-over pool and relaxing at Aquavit. Breakfasts are excellent, with Linda's daily special a real treat. Linda and Ole made excellent dinner recommendations and managed to secure bookings for us at short notice.

We only stopped for one night but were so happy with it!
The house is beautiful and very tastefully decorated. The two owners, Linda and Ole, were very nice and welcoming and gave us good recommendations for dinner. The two dogs were also very cute.

Everything was perfectly clean and the breakfast was delicious with a great view.
I'd highly recommend it and would definitely go back again.

We had the most beautiful stay with Linda and Ole. The house is stunning and perfectly designed and furnished. The room was exquisite and a perfect place to relax and every last touch is thought of. The breakfast is fabulous and well worth staying a few days to enjoy their hospitality.

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful and exquisite and probably worth chatting with Linda to choose the one perfe...

We spent four nights at Aquavit in October; it was a wonderful experience. Linda and Ole (our hosts) and their staff were exceptional. The property is spectacular, nicely designed, and beautifully furnished; wandering around the guesthouse you find hidden delights everywhere. Our room was extremely comfortable with an enormous & luxurious bathroom with heated floor.

I was shocked that one reviewer that hadn't even stayed the night complained of potential road noise; we did not experience any road noise, and the blinds and curtains in our room allowed us very restful nights. But the best part was the hospitality: gourmet breakfasts overlooking the bay, interesting conversations with Linda and Ole and other guests, and great service with excellent recommendations for restaurants and day trips. If you’re visiting Plettenberg Bay, Aquavit will not disappoint. And, if you’re in need of a dog fix, their two wonderful dogs, Beau and Dakota, will fill that need nicely. Very highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed at Aquavit for 4 nights in mid-November. This guest house is an absolute jewel. It's like the a luxury hotel in a tiny little package (only 5 rooms.) The entire property is aesthetically perfect. Our room (room #1) and bath were large and well appointed. The bed and linens provided great sleeping. We had a lovely outdoor space with beautiful bay views. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. The owners - Linda & Ole - were always there to help when needed, but knew when you wanted to be left alone - a perfect balance you rarely find. Their staff was always helpful and courteous. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We loved the room we had - #1 - but got to peek at the other rooms and they all were lovely.

We stayed at Aquavit in November and were most impressed by the beauty of the guest house, the quality of the breakfast, the wonderful hosts and their staff. I cannot imagine how Aquavit can be improved but I'm sure that won't stop Linda and Ole trying.

If you are travelling the Garden route be sure and include Aquavit - it's a must.

Firstly I need to agree with the other reviewers that this place is a true triumph of design- really stunning. Unfortunately we didn't get to see Plettneburg at its best as we had some lousy weather but even the grey skies and heavy rain couldn't detract from the location.

I think we may have just been a little unlucky with our first impression- maybe we didn't get a chance to appreciate the hosts as much as other reviewers have.

We arrived to be greeted by a very charming young man called Innocente - Linda and Ole were out. He was awfully sweet but obviously a little inexperienced and our initial reception was confusing and disorientating- he left us milling around in the sitting room on our own for ages, then went to let in further arrivals. We were offered a very welcome drink- both asked for beer- and were given a milk stout- a niche beer even if you like real ale. When I tried to explain we wanted a lager beer and that to be frank, the stout was undrinkable, he was unwilling to change it and it was wasted- hey ho. Not a real problem.

Our room was wonderful- we certainly didn't feel there were any unfriendly rules. (or road noise- can't believe that someone complained about that- its well away from the road)

Everything was perfectly pleasant- and the Aquavit would have probably got another five star from us.

But one thing really rankled with us both. As we were having our tour we explained to Innocent that the following morning we were going to a Cheetah park with an early start.- He was quick to advise that breakfast wasn't served until 8.30 - although he showed us leaflets promoting the Cheetah Park.

The Aquavit is Bed and Breakfast and sells itself on its great, creative fresh breakfasts- it isn't cheap compared to other B and Bs and presumably the cooked breakfast is a reason for justifying the high prices.

Later on we met Linda the owner- very nice lady- and advised her the same thing- we were expecting to be offered maybe a bagged breakfast or that a few croissants, fruit etc could be left for us for the morning- we certainly didn't;'t expect her to get up and cook us a breakfast at 6,30 (although I have had that service elsewhere with an early start) She was not forthcoming with any offer- and advised that the Cheetah park provided breakfast which they didn't.

I can't help feeling a little aggrieved that we were charged for a full breakfast that we weren't able to take advantage of and no alternative was offered. Poor service on this issue and I hope if they read the review they take as constructive feedback. We did refer to it twice.....

However I don't want to be churlish- it is beautiful- maybe we just had a less effusive welcome than others.
