We are from the UK and were recommended this hike by friends of ours who lived in Plett. We went on a very hot day and were completely unprepared. We didn't take enough food or water - and completely underestimated how tough it was, or how much water we would need. The full hike took us nearly 5.5 hours and is 9.2km from start to finish. It starts of easy enough, but is not easy all the way - there are some really tough spots (and we had a 73 year old woman with us). Again, we should have done our research but having said that, I am glad we did it - we all managed to finish in one piece, and would definitely do it again - but next time, we will take more water, food (and sunscreen) - typical tourists eh? Its a beautiful hike though and well worth the time, but be warned, there are no stopping points along the way for loo/water/food and if you do the full hike it does take around 4.5 - 5.5 hours! I did a full review of this walk under the travel section of my blog 'Quintessentially Me' where I added a lot of photos and a more detailed description of the whole hike.
