We stayed at Aberni for 6 days in March in a one bedroom apartment, extending our original booking of 4 days. The apartment was tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean, the bed extremely comfortable, the bathroom luxurious, the kitchen fully equipped (convection oven, microwave, stove top, small fridge + pots pans dishes etc), the furniture on the balcony useable and comfortable, with a view of trees. I just read a recent review mentioning the sea being a drive away -- this is very strange. The property is on the road which parallels the beach. To access the beach you walk out the driveway, cross the street, and walk down a path to the ocean which runs along the property facing Aberni. The beach is maybe 3 minutes walk away, max. You're on the sand in two. It's true, it's not a flashy property with expansive balconies overlooking the beach, but you are right at the beach -- no driving necessary -- and it doesn't have the price tag that a place with showy balconies would. We looked around at places in town, and much further back from the beach, this was far and away the best value to be found. On top of all this, we received a very helpful welcome, with excellent restaurant recommendations. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Three of us, including our visitor from the UK spent two nights in April at Aberni on sea. The hosts description of their property reads "Aberni on sea, situated on the magnificent Robberg beach".
Whilst the accommodation was very nice it was not on the beach but in an estate and there was no view of the sea(which was a short drive away). From the description (and the high cost) one assumes that if the house is "on the beach" there would be a view of the sea. We were most disappointed! This stay was meant to be the highlight of our trip along the Garden Route. Also it was by far the most expensive.

No words! I wanted to cry when our time was up! What a beautiful diamond you have created Fiona, thank you so much for allowing us to share your heaven, even if it was only for 3 days - one of my crowing pleasures was standing under your tree watching a giant spotted eagle owl survey the horizon! Thanks so much once again.

'Aberni' is modern ,clean, well appointed and close to the beach. We wanted s/c accom. And this suited us well, although the catering equipment is limited.. The owners clearly do not expect people to want to cook! The apartment was spacious with separate lounge / dining room and large balcony overlooking the garden. There are no laundry facilities but it is easy to get laundry done in town. We had 3 nights here and would recommend it.

Dear John and Bev,

Thank you for the nice comments on Trip Advisor. We really appreciate it.

You mentioned that you would have liked more equipment in the kitchen. To improve our facilities I will appreciate if you can give me an indication of what you found missing in the apartment.

We hope to be of assistance in future again.

Kind regards,

Bernard & Anita

Although Aberni is less than 100m from the beach, it does not have a view of the sea. This was only a momentary dissapointment, because the establishment is really well above par in terms of accomodation, facilities, convenience, and attention to detail. We chose the self catering option, and were led into a beautifully appointed, modern apartment, with loads of space. Our sense was that the owners had really thought this through, and it shows. If you absolutely must have a beach view, there are several excellent choices nearby, but at a cost.
Aberni, (which is less than a minute from the beach, anyway,) ranks up there with the best in Plett. We intend staying there again
