“Very reasonable and value for money.”
Reviewed 31 December 2013

After reviewing comments on TripAdvisor, I was a bit sceptical about our stay prior to arrival. I booked early in 2013 and never looked at TripAdivor until just before we left for our holiday.

The location was great for our purpose. It is close to the town centre, and to where we needed to be - the original reason for selecting this location.

We stayed in one of the self catering units - two bedrooms, lounge/kitchenette, bathroom with shower and a bath, separate toilet and private BBQ area.

Although (in this part of the property) everything was dated, linen and towels were clean, and everything was functional and fit for purpose. All the mod coms were available with a big fridge/freezer. Wifi is good, and speed surprisingly fast. The unit can do with a very thorough deep clean, especially the shower that was mouldy .The toilet was smelly as other reviewers also mentioned. The unit was serviced every day, including Christmas Day, that was not expected. I was not sure it the ample supply of condoms were left by O'Hanna's or a previous guest.

The property was very quiet. It was away from the main road and taxi rank.

All staff were always very friendly, smiling and helpful. Faith showed us other self catering units as we hope to return next year (Dec 2014) and might have additional family joining us. When I mentioned to Faith that the property could do with a deep clean, she was very understanding, excepted the feedback and not defensive. We will definitely return in future.

I feel the property was very good value for money and look forward to a return to Plett and hope .

We where traveling along the garden route and needed a place to spend the night. We ended up in O'Hannas.

The rooms at first look good, a bit out dated, but functional nonetheless. Unfortionately the bathroom was very moulded and a bit smelly.

The TV was ok and Wifi very good (we were very close to the reception though, across the street might be a different experience).

Our rooms were right above the staff entrance/kitchen door, don't expect to be sleeping a lot after 6.30/7.00!

Breakfast was simple but ok.

Dirty and dingy. Please do not waste your money and precious holiday time in this place. I agree totally with a previous reviewer - could have statyed anywhere else for the money we paid. Did not bode well when we walked into reception area. It was dirty, dark and uninviting.
One of the rooms we occipied had quite a vile smell. Our double room linen looked dirty and already slept in - not a welcoming room in any way atall. Towels were threadbare and looked less than clean. Chair seat pads filthy in bedroom and in the dining room. Table mats at breakfast also dirty and stained with food. In fact we did not eat a cooked breakfast there - just could not bring ourselves to eat anything prepared there.
It was a dismal experience. Had it tnot been late and all of us so tired - would most definitely been willing to lose deposit and stay elswhere - with hindsight, wished we had. Staff were unhelpful when complaints put to them.
However, Plettenberg Bay is beautiful and well worth a visit - shops/restaurants easily accessible and beach within walking distance - although quite an uphill walk back. There is parking available near the beach anyway.

Room Tip: Best tip I could give - do not stay there.

The location is not bad but then everything in Plett is so close that you would really battle to find a really bad location. The linen was stained and hadn't been ironed. All the linen was also torn and very worn and the pillows were aweful. The taps all leaked. The lights are not always left on for guests outside so when we came back the first night, we walked into things. Not good!!! The bathrooms did not smell great and the towels were stodgy and smelled of damp. For the price we paid, we could really have gone anywhere else!! Not worth it at any price!!

We believed we were very fortunate to get a room there as every single other establishment was fully booked and coincidentally O'Hannas had 1 unit available for the 1 night only. Checking in is speedy and efficient and very friendly.

It was relatively easy to find the units that are located in a cul de sac close enough to shops if you enjoy a little walk. Our unit termed a family unit had 2 rooms - the bigger one containing a equipped kitchenette and small lounge area that looked out onto a building. it was furnished with a small tv on top of what appeared to be some cartons covered by a table cloth and an old buckled double bunk that had broken metal stairs. The main bedroom was really very dark and austere although there were sufficient dark wood paneled cupboards, a ceiling -mounted tv and a mighty big ceiling rotor fan that worked like a bomb in circulating air. The small but efficient shower-only bathroom lead off main bedroom as did the small outside braai area

The 2 rooms were clean and had fresh linen and towels which are the redeeming features and the total contributory factor to the rating which unfortunately, would've been much lower considering the in season rate for this room which is frankly not worth it considering other establishments that we have seen which are far superior in terms of livability should one be looking at a holiday at the coast.

Furniture is outdated and decor very dark and austere in main bedroom. Should we have had children who would have needed to sleep in the buckled and broken double bunk, I would have had grave concerns. As I would, had I attempted to cook on the rusted little table top stove.

If you are looking for a 'holiday home' in which to spend time and relax at the coast then this is not for you. If you are intending to spent as little time as possible indoors and merely need a clean bed and hot shower then this would be fine.

Personally, I believe that updating of units and furniture wouldn't be amiss. Failing which a downgrading (if that we're possible) would be in order.

The b&b is on a quiet cul de sac, (check as there are some rooms facing a main road as well, but we had a room at the back). 2 minute walk from the high street. But it is an uphill walk or drive back from the beach.

Good breakfast, clean tidy and felt safe here. Reception was also able to advise and help us book activities in the area.

We booked 4 nights in this place, The place is not nice, not views at all, it is near a taxi rank, nothing exciting at all. We stayed one night and had to go back to Cape town due to an emergency, the owner refused to give us the money for the other remaining period. He is not nice at all, not just for that reason he refused to give us money , just in general, I think he need someone to help him run his business or he needs to attend some courses to improve his people skills. The place is just a block of houses not appealing at all.
