My family and I went to spend a week end at Treetop Forest Lodge a while ago, and I must say, a real hidden Gem. There's an animal touch farm, a nice swimming pool for the kids and really peaceful with breath taking views. If you like the forest and peace and quiet, this would be the place to go visit. Vicky, Neil and staff were very helpful with everyrthing we needed to make our stay memorable. I will always go back.

Good place to hide from the hustle and bustle from city life. Our daughter absolutely loved feeding the tame deer and the animals in the petting farm. Our log cabin was basic with everything that you needed and very cosy.

Having booked and paid for a specific room months ahead of time and receiving written confirmation for this room, we had flown from the UK to see my parents in Cape Town and then spent hours in holiday season traffic driving to this place, only to be shown a different room by the woman in attendance. The owner who had done the confirmations was "not available". She had already allocated our paid for room to someone else and there was no way she would be changing our booking, even though these other guests had not yet arrived. We were also told we would not receive a refund, even though we weren't receiving what we paid for.
We telephoned the owner, who was very rude and abrupt and hung up the phone when we asked her about what she'd done.
The woman who had shown us the room - which was substandard, to say the least - informed us that this is a regular practice and that they always have unsatisfied customers. The owner never returns customer deposits or payment for room bookings that she haphazardly changes. (We have recorded footage of all these conversations.)
We eventually got hold of the owner, who made us drive up and down trying to meet with her - one of those "permanently unavailable" types. I have a recorded conversation and telephone billing records of the conversation in which she apologises for her mix-up and states that she would return the payment if I gave her my banking details. Obviously, I wasn't going to fall for this rubbish and insisted on cash payment. She then agreed, and said I should come and meet with her and show her my paperwork. Of course, we knew this was more nonsense and an opportunity for her to argue again, so went anyway so we could record this conversation. As expected, she denied everything she had said a few minutes before and refused payment. Again, all recorded. Her attitude was again very abrupt and completely different to her fake polite telephone voice.
Do not consider staying at this place. The method of booking ensures that she receives payment upfront. She tries not to leave a paper trail and tries to do booking verbally, but as stated, it's pretty easy to collect evidence on what she's agreed to.
Still considering taking the matter further - just uncertain I'd want to ever see / hear this woman's voice ever again. It's a shame that she - clearly originally from the UK - gives SA tourism a bad name.
You've been warned.

Anyway, it all turned out for the best in the end - this accommodation is rubbish and nothing like the website shows. It is also not close to the beach or any good shops as claimed - it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere, off a badly signposted dirt road.
We were eventually accommodated at Simola Lodge, which is more up our alley.

Room Tip: A good room is waiting for you at a different establishment - you won't find it here. (In fact, you'll struggle to find this place at all as the website address is obscure and the signposting terrible. Be prepared to waste lots of petrol/diesel driving back and forth, and then hours of frustration when dealing with the owner.)
