“Worst experience ever!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014 via mobile

My family and I (10 adults and 4 kids) were booked to stay here for 3 nights. We stayed over 1 night out of necessity however I have never been so disgusted with a place before!

Here is a list of issues we and I'm sure many people would have with this place:
The cabins and bedding were filthy! The bedding was stained with and smelled of body odour and sweat.
The rooms all smelled damp.
The floors were rotten or something as it would bend and almost break under a normal persons weight.
The toilet would almost fall over.
The plates were dirty and some of the cabins had dead insects in them.
We moved a huge mirror hanging on a single nail in a dry wall and a dead cockroach fell out.
The cups had mould in them.
Myself and my wife got locked in our room after the key broke off in the door and we had to climb out the window.

This is just to list a few of the issues.

I understand they are meant to be cabins in the forest, but no one should have to stay in such disgusting accommodation.

The next day we all left to see if we could find other accommodation and when we returned to pack and leave. We then confronted the owner about the situation and she did not care, all she wanted was for us to pay her for our full 3 days we booked and threatened that she wouldn't let us leave until we paid her. She wouldn't even go look at the cabins so we could show her what we were talking about.

The worst of the cabins was the forest cabin, which I was told was normally reserved for walk ins. However when we confronted her she said she told us that the cabin was not fit for people to stay in...

I promise you, you may think for the price it is worth it, but it is not and people should not support a person who runs their business like this!!!

If you really want to go then rather only book in for 1 night or only one night's deposit.

If you have kids also be aware that there is a very dangerous gorge with a cliff that is really easy for someone to not notice and fall down.

Rather save yourself the trouble and book in somewhere else!

Its close to Plettenberg Bay and it's beaches, so its convenient. Loads of attractions to do in the area. The kids loved the pool and the tame deer. The venue truly has great potential as the structures are well built but the interiors need work and its simple things that could be fixed quite easily. For what we paid (in peak season) I was extremely disappointed because their website is misleading. The bedding is truly disgusting so we had to use whatever blankets we brought with. The kitchen is stove is a fire hazard. A two plate stove covered with foil. The cutlery and plates are so mismatched and old. The kitchen smelt like mildew and the braai grid was dirty and disgusting that we got one from the garage up the road. We also moved to a second cabin which was a bit better but the kettle was placed on top of the fridge (hazard) and you had to use an extension cord and put your kettle and stove on the sink to boil or cook anything. Its a pity because its ideal for kids and the venue has loads of potential. Plettenberg Bay on the otherhand was gorgeous and friendly with lots of things to do but if we could have moved we would have.

I loved the atmosphere nice and peaceful what a nice place to chill with kids The place is so close to town can easily go for your shopping.I have been to this lodge with my family for 2 nights. My kids loved the swimming pool , the antelopes around feeding them and we had a morning walk through the forest it was very exciting. We were in the big cabin with the two bed rooms and kitchen very comfortable. l will definately come back again.

Great value for money accommodation, close to Plettenberg Bay and it's beaches. Loads of attractions to do in the area and the lodge even gave us a discount on local attractions. Kids loved the pool and the tame deer. A relaxing venue, away from busy Plett but close enough to pop into town. We really enjoyed our stay here.

We were booked for 4 nights and were lead to believe that the cabin sleeps 6. While space issues can be forgiven it was the dirt and the fact that place was so badly kept. The linen was dirty so bad that we had to get our sleeping bags out. The cutlery was a joke. There were 6 different knives and 6 different forks. Most of which seemed to belong to a wendy house for kiddies. The Spa bath was a joke. There was abosolutely NOTHING good about the place. Apologies only the Beagle puppy gave us a smile. We packed and left the next morning not even bothering to get one nights deposit back. Be warned!!

This is a dirty, run down, disgusting place that survives by the fact that you cannot get your deposit back. 1 member of staff has to do everything, so the place is never maintained, hardly cleaned, and she has to face the totally disgusted and shocked guests. I was told that I would get the last Family Cabin, but on arrival, was met by total deception. Cabin not as advertised. No horse, rusted toaster, no microwave, no globes in the lamps, no batteries in the remote, no antenna for TV as the owner refuses to pay TV license. Touch farm consists of two goats & a pig. Petrified baby deer permanently running away from owner’s chasing dog. Pool & Spa area will also shock.

If you want a terrible experience, disgusting service and disgusting accommodation then book here! My fiancé and I stayed here last December on vacation, BIGGEST mistake!! The rooms in the lodge had stained and filthy linen ( more like rags). The owners attitude is almost the same, if not worse than this "dodgy joint" she runs. Don't be fooled by the website and handfed deer!!!! The entire grass area is filled with dear [--]....!!!
