Wonderful hotel, had upgraded rooms with wonderful ocean views. Made to feel very well, food in restaurant was excellent and fairly priced. Would recommend to any one. Rooms very well decorated and very comfortable beds -with hot water bottles!

At the end of our garden route tour we selected this hotel since it is featured in "1000 places to see before you die". It is a lovely, peaceful place right on a cliff overlooking the bay that is well known for different species of whales. The staff was exceptionally helpful and gracious and we received a lovely upgraded room even though we payed the lowest room rate ( $200 versus the going rate of about 400). The town is a small, resort town at the ned o the garden route and a half hour from Knysna. There is not much to do there but relax in a luxurious, private setting, wale watching or taking on some of the outdoor tours that they offer everywhere this part of South Africa. The breakfast buffet ( included in the room rate) was great and custome orders for omlets, or eggs benedict graciously served. The internet hookup is freely available and it is one of the few places we stayed at during winter there that had heating in the room.

The most gorgeous hotel with the most beautiful view of Plettenburg Bay. Fabulous food, great attention to detail and hospitality - flowers, fruit and wine awaiting us in the room. Just what is needed for a relaxing few days. Expensive but worth every cent. You won't go wrong or be disappointed staying here.

We stayed in the The Plettenberg Hotel for 2 nights as part of 11 days in SA on our honeymoon and really enjoyed our time there. We had a standard room with a small balcony in the building across the road which was very spacious and well decorated. We had dinner in the restaurant on one night of the nights and thought the food was exception. Standard of service was also very high with the manger personally introducing herself and nothing being too much trouble for the staff. The best thing about the hotel is the views, it really has an amazing setting but is still very close to the town itself. I'd also recommend the restaurant/bar "The Lookout" which is close to the Plettenberg for just chilling out and taking in the stunning scenery.

Lovely hotel with amazing panoramic views of the coast and garden route. Staff, especially management, made us very welcome and were obviously very highly trained. We stayed in a standard room for 2 nights which was absolutely lovely, very large with all the amenieties, wished we had stayed longer as there was plenty to do in the surrounding areas. Would highly remommend and would definetly stay again if we could have the chance.
