“Awesome Experience”
Reviewed 12 February 2014

Having never visited Plettenberg Bay before, we were really amazed at this hotel. It's location is excellent - right on the beach (a little walkway takes you across from the hotel grounds onto the soft white sand). The resort facilities were great, too: a lovely bar lounge, an outdoor pool (which affords you a sea view), an indoor heated pool (great for kids), more than enough pool loungers, attentive staff walking about, and a kids entertainment programme (the one day we were told by our 3-year-old that she didn't want to go anywhere else as she wanted to "paint a t-shirt, make a musical instrument, create a bouncy bird, and complete the treasure hunt". Sherideen, who runs the programme, is a real credit to the hotel. The room was spacious enough for the baby camping cot and sleeper couch folded out for the toddler - and the huge window (that could open) giving you a sea view was awesome! On a negative side, we missed the card saying "please service room" so we didn't have clean towels the one day. And there was a little inconsistency with the cocktails - on arrival we ordered a mojito, which was excellent. The next day we had another and it was not at all enjoyable. Food was very good (cinnamon sugar french toast was excellent value for money). Very accommodating with kids sharing meals/drinks.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms offer some form of sea view, but if you'd like one facing either sunrise or su...

What a great hotel. The rooms are a bit small, but it has everything you need. The restaurants food was great and the staff is very friendly and helpfull. You dont even have to take your own beach towels. This helps with having wet towels in your room everyday.

Had the most amazing weekend with my husband. Staff are very capable. The only criticism I have was that the spa was closed at 18:00 when we were told it stays open till 20:00.

I was disappointed that we could eat at the restaurant too, since it was full every time we got there.

We heard from friends that visited that this is the ultimate holiday with kids, but we were a bit sceptical - until we arrived! Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the entertainment staff and there was a great vibe happening. Check-in was swift en efficient and our room, although quite small, was very well equipped. Absolutely beautiful outdoor area, with swimming pool and deck chairs and umbrellas and well-trained, friendly staff as well as a warm indoor pool that was a save when it was rainy and cold. The absolute best though, was the fantastic entertainment staff that captivated our kids and kept them busy with games and sporting activities and very happy throughout our stay. The kids loved the hotel and still insist that it is the very best holiday they have ever had! Good restaurants, but we did get a bit bored with the dishes on offer and would enjoy a greater variety.

My husband and I have just returned from an AWESOME week at Beacon Isle Resort. This is what I can call a Real holiday. We arrived a little early, around 1pm, and received a very warm welcome. After an extremely quick and efficient check in, we enjoyed a cooling complimentary drink. As the rooms were not ready at this point, luggage safely on a trolley with a porter, we had time to wander around.
The room was just fantastic, spectacular views and spotlessly clean. The little fridge was very useful and access to the ice machine, one floor up, was so convenient and essential during a week of perfect weather. (Ice bucket provided in the room)

Easy access to the surrounding beaches, long leisurely walks, cooling down in a sparkling pool, wallowing in the heated pool or just sitting on a lounger under an umbrella on the well manicured rolling lawns, enjoying the ocean view and comedy show provided by the seagulls, it' all there for you.

Restaurants provide a pool service which is delivered by ever willing waiters on dome covered plates.

Nothing is too much trouble for the talented entertainment staff. A variety of activities are there for the taking, sporty for the energetic, crafts for the young or a game of bingo.
After long hours the entertainment team found the energy to star in a very funny Cabaret show. Every evening offered something different.
The restaurants serve great meals and the vibe is always pumping. Room service meals are delivered quickly with all meals fresh and hot.

No holiday is complete without getting out the wallet to spend a few rand in the the well stocked little outdoor-wear shop. The Gecko Shop in the lobby has a great cabinet full of interesting jewelry, great to get for the loved ones at home, who couldn't be there to enjoy the PERFECT holiday at this Perfectly situated hotel.

This is what I call a REAL holiday.

Room Tip: When checking in, ask for the pool towel card. This allows you to get or exchange towels at will. I...

This hotel is situated in a unique setting with vacation written all over it from the time you enter the front doors and walk to the top of the lawn to view a magic sea view. Staff always obliging and comfort in all rooms - suites. Completely cild friendly with indoor and outdoor pools. We always enjoy the interesting animal and bird sanctuaries a short drive away. All in all a great switch off.
