As you sat down at your table on the deck overlooking the beautiful Plettenberg Bay you were at once transported to a bye-gone age of elegance & charm. This character and charm made you feel like a millionaire. The spicy chicken dish was the pick of the meals. Perhaps the Kingklip was a tiny bit over cooked but the ambiance covered any thought of objection. - Pamper yourself, even if only just once.

Visit restaurant for special night out with friends, but it was disastrous. Ordered drinks with wine, but the food arrived first. The wine only arrived when we want to left. Tried out the 28 days sirloin steak, but it was the worst steak experience ever - would definitely not recommend it! Wife ordered Kingklip and it was still raw. The bill was quite hefty comparing to the very poor quality of the food.

Room Tip: Did not sleep over - please skip 28 days sirloin.

The website promised a quirky, unique experience and the Grand Cafe did more than fulfill our expectations. The food was great, the atmosphere off-beat and unusual and the view from our balcony stunning.

Very Africa excellent food and staff. Rooms are dark but very quaint . Very different but great atmosphere. Do use the restaurant at night especially outside with the fire on. Bodicea room is probably the best . Let the hotel arrange some trips as they know the area well . Location is town center but very accessible for beaches

We booked a stay in Plett simply because we needed a pit stop on the garden route rather than a specific desire to see the city but we are so so glad that we did. The Grand Cafe & Rooms was one of the biggest and best surprises on our honeymoon.

The staff were some of the most friendly that we met on our trip and the room was by far the most beautiful that we stayed in...the honeymoon upgrade probably helped out as well.

For dinner they started us a fire in their outside fireplace despite us being the only ones eating out there, they really couldn't have done more for us on our stay. We had to leave ridiculously early in the morning so check out was sorted out the night before we left and a pack breakfast was ready for us with the porter in the morning...nice little touch.

If you're driving the garden route and are looking for a stunning boutique hotel I can't recommend the Grand Cafe & Rooms enough.

We returned 5 times during a 3-week holiday to eat the Grand Cafe and this should be a firm indication of how good this restaurant is. Great food, excellent service, perfect ambience, exceptional view. A hidden gem in Plett. On second thoughts, perhaps I shouldn't have written this review in order to keep it a secret!
