My family and I planned to stay for three nights 27 June to 1 July 2014 and stayed a 4th, we did not want to leave. The friendliness of the staff, the hospitality was great. I travelled a bit but the team at Whalesong beats them hands down.
We had pizza at the restaurant Sunday night, and wow they did not hold back, it was delicious. The breakfast experience was fantastic, everything was freshly prepared. When we did have a slight problem, they were quick to respond. The room was always clean and fresh. I would definitely recommend staying at the Whalesong, its not in the City Centre, the location is just right. The view in the morning when the sun rises awesome.
To Candice and her Team you guys ROCK!!!

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter

I notice I am not the first reviewer complaining about this, but my TomTom navigator as well as Google maps directed me to the other end of the road and we ended up struggling finding the place. However I suppose it is not fair to blame the establishment for this. When we eventually found it I realise it will be a special ear that hear the whalesong, because it is close to the N2 and far from the sea. However, it had beautiful views and the rooms was large with a feeling of seclusion. Generally a good experience

Had dinner at the Whalesong Hotel & Hydro Restaurant @Whales Restaurant. Decided to have a light meal, - Chicken kebabs and meatball tapas. The chicken was xtra succulent and tender with just the right amount of sauce. Meatballs was freshly made (and not re-heated as most restaurants do) with a mouth-watering slightly-bite-to-it sauce. The service was quick and friendly with someone always around to serve.

Definitely a place to stop when visting Plett for any reason!!

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a Saga tour. We were in room 2 which was large and had a high ceiling with a fan. The bathroom had a thatched roof inside and was very dark due to the stone tiles. Our shower tray outlet looked very grubby and the water did not drain away when we used it. We phoned reception and within 2 minutes a maintenance man came and fixed the problem .This was followed up with a call from the management who were full of apologies. There was an electric blanket on the bed for chilly nights which was a nice touch. All the staff were charming and went out of their way to please. The hotel is built on a slope so access to the rooms is uphill and down dale! Soft furnishings are obviously quite new and up to date but the furniture has seen better days and needs replacing. Many of our group had problems using their safes. We had to get a key for ours as some of the 'pads' did not work.
The restaurant is situated away from the main hotel, so an umbrella is needed if it is wet . Breakfast was good with hot options cooked to order. Dinner is simple but presented nicely.
With a bit of money spent, this hotel could easily be bought up to scratch .

This hotel is situated high above the bay with views to take your breath away. All the rooms have their own balcony and all look out over the ocean.
The rooms are well furnished and very comfortable and the bathrooms equally so.
The staff go out of their way to make sure that your every wish is catered for. The food served in the restaurant is excellent and the breakfast buffet offers a wide range of choice. All in all a stay here is everything you would want from a hotel whilst a long way from home. I would not hesitate to return to the Whalesong and feel sure that anyone staying here would be very pleased with the whole package. I really couldn't find fault with anything. Fabulous time spent here.

Room Tip: All the rooms are ocean facing and are all identical,so any room will be good.

Arriving here after a long drive we booked into the restaurant rather than go out again, and were so impressed that we ate here every evening of our 5 night stay. The Valentine's Day dinner was especially good, with many tables taken by locals - always a good sign!
Manuela and her staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful and seem to be a happy team. Our room was pleasant with a lovely view and very clean. The somewhat ancient tv with poor reception was replaced immediately when we asked.
Legend Hotels take note - you have a good manager and team - with a bit of money spent on aircon, brightening up the pool area and some varnishwork, you would have an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Being on the side of a hill gives the good views, but means some of the rooms are an uphill/downhill...

We enjoyed this hotel which was nice as from reading some reviews beforehand we had been rather worried about staying there. The rooms were very nice as was the view. This was part of a Saga tour. The food was very good and the service friendly.
