Periwinkle Guest Lodge

We spent three nights at periwinkle and, despite them all being cold, wet and windy we had a great time. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and Pascalette even found and posted to me in the UK a note book that I had left behind. The views ( when it wasn't raining ) were great. It is a bit out of town though with no restaurants close. We like walking, so it was OK for us, but could be an issue for some. If we go back to Plettenberg then we would have no hesitation in staying there.

Well, we were not originally planning to visit Plettenberg Bay, but we are very glad we did. So much to do in the area, including Elephant Sanctuary, Monkeyland, Birdworld and great beaches, plus good boat trips out to see the whales. Pascallette the owner is a lovely lady and very very accomodating. All the people who help her run the lodge are all also very lovely and helpful. The room we had (no. 3) was just fine for what we wanted, but we spent very little time in there as its like a family home that you can wander around, including using the kitchen facilities and a trusting honesty box for drinks of wine etc from the fridge. The view from the lodge is right over the beach and you can easily see Whales / Dolphins at the right time of year. There is an Infinity pool, which we used both mornings (a little cold at end of October, but very refreshing) and it was great to have a dip before a very nice breakfast. If we return to Plett when we come back to SA we will stay here again without doubt.... It is more designed for a couples trip, but if you are a small family with an older child its also very suitable.

Nice hotel with good service (in the morning all guests' cars were cleaned!). Pascalette takes personal care on all the guests and their requests. Perfect view from the balcony directly to the sea. We absolutely can recommend this hotel.

My wife and I spent three wonderful days at this lovely guesthouse.
The Position, with Plettenberg Bay view is fantastic. The service and hospitality of all the staff at the highest level that can be expected.
Whales was look from the balcony of our room and from the dining room.
Anyone who wants to enjoy a visit of one hundred percent in Plettenberg Bay, may do so from this charming place.

We were booked in as our first stop along the Garden Route to Cape Town.

This was a truly stunning guest house and far better than staying at a hotel.

Our rooms overlooked the bay and were very well appointed with superb en suite facilities and top class toiletries.

One small point is that no caretaker or porter is around after about 6 p.m. or when the last guest for the day has arrived. they provide you with a panic alarm which calls out armed response which is quite normal in South Africa. This should not deter you as the place is very secure and well lit at night.

One has the use of a large communal lounge and open plan dining room and kitchen all overlooking the bay. There is also an outside pool again overlooking the bay.

The comfort of beds cannot be faulted.

In fact when we arrived the cook had left a cake and this was served to us with complimentary hot drinks of our choice.

Now breakfast was a trteat as the 2 cooks took orders and could magically serve whatever one wanted. I even asked for baked beans with my cooked breakfast and they were provided much to my surprise.

Breakfast was great with freshly baked croissant, breads, scones and the usual selection of fruits and more items than I can recall. This certainly filled you up for the day.

This is clearly what it ways on the can 5 Star and we would certainly visit again.

Whilst we had 3 days really with so much to do it would have been nice to stay longer and enjoy this guest house a wee bit longer.

All the staff and owner were extremely helpful and did everything possible to make our stay a delight and nothing was to much trouble.

They even provided umbrellas for guests to use which as we had some heavy rain was a godsend.

Room Tip: All rooms are good but the higher you go the better the views. One thing this property has a lot...

My wife and I spent three nights at Periwinkle and it was a perfect amount of time. The guest lodge was wonderful - room was very nice, breakfasts were great with a view of the ocean, and the managers/staff very helpful throughout our stay. There is a lot to do in the area for a full two days of activities so it is wise to stay for three nights for sure. While restaurants in the area do vary in quality, there are some which are very good. Our room was very nice with a view of the ocean.
