Bella Manga Country House
Ranked #29 of 81 Plettenberg Bay B&B and Inns
Reviewed 16 March 2012

My wife Marie, & I have traveled the world on many occasions, staying from
five star hotels, to humble abodes in very remote locations, but have still
to find a place like Bella Manga, this is our 4th. visit, and it gets better
every time, one of our top criteria is feeling safe, and Bella Manga has it
in spades, as soon as we arrive we feel so relaxed, and worry free. the
accommodation is lovely & quiet, with very comfortable large beds

We love to explore their hundred acres never tiring of looking for beautiful
birds, and coming across Ray & Fiona's South African cattle, lovely horses,
their friendly dogs & cats, not forgetting their large aviary, and as a
bonus we pit our wits against the resident wide mouth bass, then a swim in
their full size swimming pool, last week we swam in 27 degrees., followed by a nightcap in
their very cosy bar.

Plettenberg is approx. 15/20 mins. away with there numerous first class
restaurants, our favourite is Enrico's Italian restaurant right on the beach
where we have seen large pods of dolphin's, and it has the most amazing sunsets

Can't wait until our next visit, and with a little bit of luck it will be
next year

Room Tip: They are all good, depends on your budget

Not our cup of tea either, the living area was very small, the tv was next to the cooker and
getting to the fridge without banging your head on the microwave was challenging. The pool area and grounds were lovely but to go into Plettenburg it was a 19k drive. Bella Manga was
very disappointing, we stayed at much nicer places on our travels.

We stayed in a thatched "Round House" - very different to our usual b and b but very cosy, very comfortable accommodation. It is a lovely setting, very safe for kids of all ages with a good size pool and hosts who really did their best to make our stay very memorable.

When I read the other reviews of this B&B I simply can not make it match with the experience we had..
The rooms are very basic. The location is extremely quiet = in the middle of f..nowhere. Prepare yourself for a lot of driving if you dont feel like cooking each night.

I have travelled many many places around the world and I get on well with most people but the owners of this place they were so loud and up your face that it was hard to relax. For that reason we decided to leave after the first night - unfortunetly we prebooked 4 nights witch the owners of course used their legal right to change us for. (fair to say that the owners offered us a free plate of pasta and wine..)

Maybe it was just us.. go and find out for yourself

We stayed in the first storey of one of the brilliantly unique, converted grain silos at Bella Manga. The bed was super comfy and the room felt very homely and was well appointed. The owners, Ray and Fiona, were warm and welcoming and we immediately felt like "old friends" (and their numerous pets were just as friendly!)

Due to time constraints we only booked a single nights' stay but we would have loved to have stopped longer. The saltwater pool was superb, the grounds were very well kept and we felt very safe in the property. Breakfast was delicious and there were coffee/tea making facilities available in our room.

The hotel is surrounded by farmland and is very peaceful as a consequence. It is located about 15 mins drive from Plettenberg Bay and you do have to drive part of that distance on a bumpy unsealed road but it is well worth it for the tranquility.

We have already recommended Bella Manga to all our friends. Don't hesitate - just book it!

We booked a three bed self catering 'forest lodge' over December at R2,000 per night. The cottages are beautifully built, clean and extremely well furnished including all mod-cons plus private fireplace/braai area. The self-catering cottages are built on the farm ground, a bit away from the main B&B area and the grounds are quite tranquil and peaceful. There is a communal pool for the self catering cottages.

It's about a 15 min drive from Plett to get here but this wasn't really an issue.

This was our third visit to Plett and our first stay at Bella Manga. It exceeded our expectations. We stayed at one of the self-catering cottages. The cottage was lovely - well equipped, tranquil, comfortable and spacious. We were left to our own devices but if we had needed anything I know that we would just have had to ask. Don't be put off by the location outside of the main town - many of the best places to stay in Plett are on the periphery and actually the beauty of the surrounding countryside is equal to the seaside scenery of Plett.
