A "you cannot go wrong" choice for many years. A bit expensive and a bit too formal to me. Seating is sometimes not good as bigger groups will have a problem to sit together. Food takes a long time to arrive.

Thank HeinOtt

We love the ambiance of this sophisticated old restaurant. We enjoy the live piano music, but found it a little too loud when seated near the piano.
For years boring same old menu!
We expected more of the food, it was a little disappointing. Quite pricy too.
No corkage is charged when you bring your own wine. - Great plus!
Overall not too bad, but we expected more value for money.

Old Austria is a restaurant in the old school style, complete with a live pianist on many nights. The service is good, and the restaurant is located in an antique old home in Port Elizabeth - an appropriate setting. The menu is quite straightforward and not particularly creative, but on the three occasions we have been there, we have always enjoyed the food. It is slightly pricier than most restaurants in PE, and I would say that you can get similar quality meals at better prices elsewhere. That being said, the atmosphere is good, the food equally enjoyable, and the restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Hmm.... the company we brought along was good, their service lacking, their food boring and very average and their prices top end. It wasn't terrible but just could not recommend to anyone.

As Austrians living in PE we went to the Old Austria. On the first table we were seated at, there were ants on the table and in the bread basket. We asked for another table, and they brought us again the same bread basket with not so fresh bread and with ants! On the menu there were only very few Austrian dishes, some German, but apart from the Apfelstrudel and the Knödel in the Knödelsuppe nothing we ordered had much resemblance to real Austrian food. For the quality it seemed overpriced, especially the salad, which we had many times in PE with much fresher ingredients, much tastier and at a lower price. However the athmosphere is nice, the live piano music contributes to it. I hope they improve!
