“Great location, great Town Lodge”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2013

This is the the 2nd lowest in the pecking order of 4 neighboring Lodge hotels in PE. Although the rooms are pretty small, the hotel does not feel cramped and sets a great standard in the budget, no-frills hotel market. I wish the architects had made a bit more of the fantastic sea-view - as the room windows are a tad small and set back, restricting the view a little. A question of economics, I suppose. The bed was super-comfortable and I had the best sleep in ages.

Room Tip: For light sleepers, a non- sea view room may be preferable, as the sea side also has a busy road.

Only suggestion is - can hotels have spare cellphone chargers - I forgot mine at home!

Otherwise it was extremely friendly visit and attentive experience

Rooms were quiet and comfortable - although got stuck in shower - door seems to seal and is very difficult to open especially when you are as short as me - quite a nerve-racking experience

Friday and Saturday stop over in PE for work. Booking was pleasant and easy. Staff are very friendly. Hotel location is very convenient. Short drive from airport and close ( walking distance) to plenty restaurants. Checking in was very quick and simple. Coffee, tea and juice available in the loft reception area. Ice freely available as well as a coin operated vending machine with a nice variety of sweet snacks.
Rooms are very neat and clean. Slightly small if you have big bags or if you are spending a long time there. But for one or two night stop over it was perfect.
Very surprised by the excellent breakfast. Great variety and very helpful staff. We requested a earlier breakfast as well and staff had no problem with assisting with this and still putting out a great breakfast.
Wifi available in the rooms. First 15 min free and then pay as you go. Good connection speed.
Overall the town lodge is a good place to stay. Much better then the slightly cheaper road lodge and much better value then the overpriced city lodge.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea facing room. They have a great view. Other than that they are all the same.

If you looking for value, pleasant, clean and comfortable this is the hotel for you, with a perfect sea view. The rooms are very small, however it is basic but clean. Ask for a ground floor room if avail, at least it has a huge balcony. The breakfast was very good and the staff was helpful and accommodating. Nice new hotel with a lovely reception and breakfast area, but lacks a lounging area. Or not quite sure if its a lounging area or eating area a bit confused as the tv is in the breakfast side and not in the relaxing side?
The location is however very close to The Boardwalk, beach and most of Port Elizabeth's entertainment

Room Tip: Opt for a ground floor room at least the bathrooms are bigger and there is a balcony, patio area Ro...

Very neat - with everything new. Our interleading rooms were on the first floor and had a nice wide balcony. Space is somewhat limited - especially the packing and hanging - cupboard space which is really meant for overnighters. The bathrooms had showers only but were very neat with large showers. The hotel was packed with the Africa Cup of Nations soccer team from Niger. Close proximity to all. Friendly staff.

We live in Port Elizabeth and choose to spend the Christmas weekend at the Town lodge. The rooms are small but comfortable we were given two rooms next to each other. There is a nice restaurant right next door to hotel that delivers to your room. Hotel is located close to good beaches , the boardwalk and Brookes on the Bay. The price is good and we definitely enjoyed our stay

On the 25/1/2013 my handbag was stolen from this hotel in the breakfast area. The manager insisted I lost my bag. When I asked if they had surveillance cameras he said no. He was unsympathetic and said he would call the security company and police. When police arrived I made my statement and minutes later my bag was found on the freeway. My jewelllry was stolen. I would not recommend anyone to stay there. I was on business and our Department wil not make use of this group any longer.

We are sorry to hear about this incident. However, please understand that it is difficult for hotels when someone comes into the commercial area - such as the breakfast area - with the intention of stealing an item. Thankfully, it does not happen very often at our holtels, but it does happen occasionally, usually carried out by people who are experienced at stealing items in public places. Our hotels try their best to limit this sort of happening, but it is difficult to stop it from ever taking place. Once again, please accept our apologies, but unfortunately this sort of theft is a reality in South Africa and in many other countries.
