I have been staying at the Paxton now for the last approximately 6/7 years on my business trips to Port Elizabeth. I'll summarize the good and the bad below:

The good:
-Great location - easy and quick access to both the town and beaches. Right next to a small shopping center and opposite the Virgin Active gym.
-Great view over the harbor.
-Big rooms, with all required facilities, incl ample power points, work space, etc.
-Good upgrade of the bathroom facilities (that was due!), including the new range of soaps. Much nicer.
-Friendly staff - to me this is one of the real plus points. There is no easier way to get rid of me than being unfriendly or surly.
-Good breakfast. Proper omelettes. Fantastic view of the sunrise if you are early enough.
-Quick and efficient check-in and check-out.

The not so good:
- The hotel still charges for Wi-Fi internet access in this day and age. Wi-Fi should be free (even if a daily limit is imposed, which is fine). Soon this will be a deal-breaker to tourists.
- The bathrooms have been renovated. Well done! - Next on the list - please refresh your room service menu. I have had to choose from that menu for years and it is becoming a bit long in the tooth...

All said, still my favorite hotel for my business trips. Thanks for the consistently good service over the years.

Just an overnight stay, but quite happy with the Paxton. The nearby small shopping centre with post office, supermarket and laundromat was very welcome after 2 weeks in Safari camps. Nice walk to beach and back.

Best bang for buck hotel I have had the pleasure of staying in P.E to date.

Facilities are great, ALL staff are extremely helpful, pleasant and professional. Food is top class and yet, they manage to maintain a homely feel to everything.

Close proximity to entertainment and business - well at least my offices there.

Definitely my first place of choice from now on when I travel to P.E.

Regards
Lelen

Room Tip: Higher rooms have less exposure to road noise, and the balcony provides a great view.

It's difficult to sleep in a bed that isn't yours. The room is stylish, comfortable and clean, the hotel is friendly and well located. It's just noisy at night with road noise, guest noise and plumbing noise, aircon noise (compressor turning on and off the whole night) and a designer colour floodlight pointed into the window of the room. The thing about hotels is sleep - what else is it about? So they need to get those things right, above all else. A good night's sleep will get a good review from me. I didn't get one here. Breakfast was self help right down to the coffee... But a good spread was offered. I asked for an extra adapter for my cellphone charger, their plug was sticking and I wasn't going to force my charger in. The adapter never arrived.

Room Tip: Try get something facing the parking lot and not the sea if you want sleep. The harbour is a nice vi...

We stayed here because it was convenient for the airport as we were arriving on an evening flight. The hotel is a fairly typical business type hotel. The staff are friendly enough and reasonably efficient (apart from the bar). The hotel only serves breakfast which is surprising. The breakfast was pleasant and the staff friendly and efficient. The rooms are a decent size with decent furnishings, all very typical of a corporate hotel. The room I had was at the front of the hotel and you do get some road noise in the morning. We did have a drink in the bar but the service was slow and I think we were the only ones there. They did have a log fire in the bar area which was very welcoming.

Stayed over for one night, on Sunday evening. Comfortable room, everything that is needed. But very noisy, both exterior ( harbouur traffic) and interior ( neighbour or hotel facilities?). Not expected from 4 star establishment!

Room Tip: Away from main route and harbour?

Lovely weekend had in PE. Top service received from the Paxton Hotel. Will definitely stay there when next in PE. Nicelyu situated, close to a small shopping centre and close to the beach front where we visited the Boardwalk.
