Simply one the most friendly and warm places I've stayed at. The scenario is top notch and the golf fantastic !

The Golf Lodge - St. Francis Links.

It is very difficult to over praise the Golf Lodge, in that its location, facilities and administration are all of an equally high standard. It particularly easy to testify to the quality of the experience since knowledge of the operation derives from staying in the Lodge in February of each of the last three years.

The Golf Lodge has a marvellous site, 100 metres from the Links’ Club House, with lovely views over the course. The rooms are generous in size with excellent showers and more than adequate storage space, with towels and linen of a high standard. Breakfast is excellent and the bar is well stocked. There is generous and comfortable seating adjacent to the bar and by the well sheltered pool.

However what makes the Golf Lodge ‘special’ is the friendliness and the expertise of the management and staff and their obviously effective and very amicable relationship with the Golf Club. Finally the course is superior in design and maintenance. Neither Simola or Pezula can rival playing ‘The Links’ in terms of pleasure and for those wishing a real challenge you only need to wait for a day with a breeze.

For the past two years we have spent the last week in january staying in the golf lodge and playing golf each day. The lodge has a wonderful friendly atmoshere and is very well appointed and comfortable. 8 bedrooms overlook the golf course and surrounding sand dunes. A pleasant reasonably large swimming pool, ideal for cooling down after a round of golf, is beside the lodge. Downstairs is a spacious dining/sitting area with a terrace overlooking the first hole. The golf club is two hundred yards away with an excecllent restaurant. Each morning the buggies were brought to the lodge so all you had to do after a great cooked breakfast was to load your clubs and drive the 100 hards to the first tee. The course, which is in fantastic condition, designed by Jack Niclaus lies among sand dunes and fresh water lakes attracting a wide variety of bird life. The course has been designed for all standards depending which tees you choose.
The course is under played so there is no problem arranging your game at any time of the day. All our party of 7 feel that we have found a golfers paradise. Why am I writing this when I really do not want it to be discovered? I must be an idiot! We are already booked in for 2011.

We spent Christmas at the St Francis Golf Lodge and it was delightful. The rooms are luxurious, light and airy with great views over the 1st tee of the golf course and out to sea. We had breakfast on Xmas morning outside on the terrace looking the course being looked after by the Manager, Barbara, whose attention to every detail was excellent. Her gorgeous assistant, Anna, is equally charming and helpful. The rooms are upstairs whilst downstairs there is a large open living and dining area with terraces and a pool with sunbeds in the private enclosed garden. We thoroughly recommend the Lodge, whether or not you play golf. It is quiet and relaxing and a complete hidden gem.
St Francis Bay itself was the safest and nicest place we stayed in duirng our 3 weeks in South Africa. Great restaurants (take recommendations from Barbara and Anna who also reserve the best tables!), fabulous beaches and completely safe.
It's a great place to end a trip down the rather busy and touristy garden route - we loved it!
