Having driven past this restaurant often and amused by the quirky name, I finally decided to try it on request by the missus for an "Intimate Evening"
Booking was easy and well handled.
We were placed in the "outside" section - suitably closed up for winter - and were unfortunate to be placed next to the barrels - which is a drinking section. Initimate became noisy. The waiters did offer to move us, but were pressed for space as the restaurant filled up rather rapidly after we got there.
Winelist is well populated with some nice wines and the only gripe I had there was the price of the wines were a tad well marked up. A Bouchard Pinot Noir that retails for R170 should not cost R535 for the pleasure of enjoying it outside of home.
Starters were good: Large Portions of Bruschetta with generous toppings and the requested free chilli were well received by both of us. The starter menu is typically italian with some nice items such as cured meat platter for two and cheese platter for two on the starters side. Could be a nice choice if you want a long lunch.
Celia had the Butternut Ravioli and raved about the taste. I had nice pink lamb chops and truffle chips. Chops were a tad bland, but were cooked to perfection and once again generous.
Pizza's looked nice as they passed our table, and this could be a good choice if you are a big Pizza fan.
They had a water problem in the centre, so no double expresso's to end the meal. Desert was out due to the afore mentioned generous portions.
Service was great - friendly waiters who were effecient and helful. (and had a sense of humour)
I do appreciate a waiter who recognises that red wine should not be served at 20 degrees and offered an ice bucket to chill the wine without been asked.
Overall - a good experience with good food, good wine and good service.
Parking was not a problem as it is in a shopping centre.
I would be happy to go back in the future.
